Objective: Serve as music director for the four-week summer musical intensive camp.
Job Summary and Scope: This position is responsible for coordinating the musical vision of the production and camp, working with youth entering grades 6 through 12. This includes pre-production work with production team, casting, schedule creation in conjunction with director, music director and producer, instruction and performance conducting. Pre- production meetings occur in early spring over zoom.
Production schedule is as follows:
Auditions: May 16th 10-1pm and May 17th 1-4pm - casting to follow
Rehearsals begin Monday June 1st and run Monday-Friday from 1 PM - 5 PM.
Performances: Thursday June 25th 7pm, Friday June 26th 7pm, Saturday June 27th 1pm
A one-hour post-performance meeting with production team to follow.
Key duties and tasks:
• Auditioning the singers and making casting recommendations to the director.
• Scheduling music rehearsals in collaboration with the director and choreographer.
• Helping cast members learn music in large group and individual instruction as required.
• Leading music rehearsals for principals, chorus and orchestra.
• Serving as conductor for performances.
• In consultation with the producer and director, guide creative process for production.
• Working with the sound designer when microphones will be used.
• Attending production meetings and rehearsals.
Desired qualifications:
• Excellent logistical and communication skills with great attention to detail and follow through.
• Experience working with youth in education and recreation-based environments.
• Exceptional music skills and training.
• Ability to make procedural decisions and judgments.
Compensation: $1800 Stipend
