Collections Specialist
The Collections Specialist is responsible for managing and collecting outstanding accounts receivable from customers and playing a critical role in maintaining the company's cash flow and minimizing bad debt. This role involves direct communication with clients to negotiate payment plans, resolve billing issues, and ensure timely receipt of payments. The compensation for this position will be commensurate with education or work experience. Responsibilities What You'll Be Doing: Protects Badgers Accounts Receivable assets using good judgment and risk assessments. Collects past due customer accounts in assigned areas. Recognizes and monitors designated accounts before they become a problem and recommend changes. Manages customer accounts: research and resolution of balances, unapplied payments, and ensure proper application of payments. Recommends periodic changes to customer status. Records collection information on customer's accounts. Resolves customer disputes, making every reasonable effort to collect. Qualifications What We're Looking For: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or a relevant field; or the equivalent work experience. Proficient communication, interpersonal and organizational skills are vital to the role. What You'll Need for Success: Knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and applications. Advanced knowledge of MS Office, including Excel. Good problem-solving skills and the ability to make the necessary decisions to move forward with the work at hand.
