Tesla is seeking an innovative Architectural Designer to join our dynamic Infrastructure Design team in Fremont, CA. Our design team spearheads the creation of cutting-edge R&D facilities, cell production, and manufacturing infrastructure across Tesla's sites. This full-time, onsite role within the Infrastructure group emphasizes forward-thinking design, cross-functional collaboration, and practical implementation to drive the future of sustainable energy and electric vehicle innovation. As part of a team that supports major product verticals at Tesla—including Energy, Vehicle AI, Robotics (Optimus), and Cell Manufacturing—you'll contribute to scalable design solutions that align with our mission to accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy.
What You'll Do
Support the development of architectural designs, from initial concept evaluations to the completion of construction drawings for permitting and on-site execution, ensuring seamless translation from design to real-world field conditions
Utilize BIM/Revit in development of three-dimensional models of buildings and their components
Drive the standardization of Revit families, templates, and workflows to enhance team efficiency and consistency across projects
Interpret and apply building codes and requirements of other regulatory agencies
Lead preparation of documentation in various architectural phases including site plans, floor plans, building elevations, building sections, details, models, and renderings
Coordinate building systems (architectural, structural, mechanical, etc.) to ensure compatibility with the design intent
Collaborate closely with manufacturing, construction, facilities, and cross-disciplinary teams to address end-user requirements, resolve integration challenges, and ensure precise coordination of building systems
What You'll Bring
Bachelor's Degree in Architecture or equivalent practical experience
3-5 years minimum of hands‑on experience in designing fast‑paced commercial, industrial, and R&D spaces, preferably in tenant improvement projects
Expert proficiency in Revit including advanced modeling, BIM coordination, and integration with multi‑discipline models
Knowledge of the California Building Code (CBC) and Accessibility Design (ADA Standards), with a focus on innovative design solutions
Strong ability to multitask, prioritize deliverables, and thrive in a fast‑paced, high‑stakes environment while maintaining attention to detail under tight deadlines
Excellent interpersonal skills for interfacing with diverse engineering disciplines, stakeholders, and external partners to foster collaborative problem‑solving
Practical knowledge of field installation methods, means, and materials, including troubleshooting real‑world constructability issues and adapting designs for on‑site efficiency
