Job Summary
A Graduate Staff Assistant (GSA) assists university service and academic units in non‑teaching or non‑research activities. Specific duties vary widely, depending on the unit, but should be at a level to make use of the assistant’s education and abilities.
Job Duties
Content Creation: Assist in developing engaging content for social media, newsletters, website, promotional materials, and more.
Photography and Video Production: Attend events or planned photoshoots to capture photos and video content; basic photo and video editing.
Social Media Management: Contribute to planning and execution of social media campaigns to increase brand awareness and engagement across Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
Graphic Design: Create visually appealing graphics, infographics, and other design assets to support marketing campaigns.
Website Editing: Complete University web training sessions, assist with website maintenance, design, and editing.
Writing: Draft compelling copy for emails, posts, articles, adhering to brand voice; assist with writing for internal and external news outlets.
Event Coordination/Support: Provide promotional support for college events, including virtual and in‑person seminars, workshops, and information sessions.
Market Research: Conduct research to identify trends, competitors, and opportunities to inform marketing strategies.
Analytics and Reporting: Assist in tracking and analyzing performance via social media and email platforms, preparing reports with key insights and recommendations.
Administrative Support: Provide general support to the Communications and Marketing team, including scheduling meetings, organizing files, responding to inquiries.
Required Education
Bachelor’s degree
Currently enrolled in a graduate program in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field.
Additional Requirements
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with keen attention to detail and grammar.
Proficiency in graphic design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and Canva.
Basic understanding of marketing principles and strategies.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively, managing multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
Analytical mindset with ability to interpret data and draw actionable insights.

Required Experience
Students must be admitted to a degree program in either full or conditional standing; probationary status may be eligible under certain circumstances.
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with social media platforms and trends, experience managing accounts for organizations.
Prior experience in communications, marketing, or related fields through internships, coursework, or extracurricular activities.
Physical Requirements
Ability to remain in a stationary position; operate computer and office equipment.
Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information.
