
Recruiter/HR Generalist (Bilingual English/Spanish) – Commercial Landscaping

Position Summary This position supports day-to-day human resources operations across the employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, performance management, and compliance.
Note: this position supports three branches: Richmond VA, Fairfax VA, and Sterling VA. The ideal candidate will report primarily to the Richmond branch with regular travel to the Fairfax/Sterling branches. A company vehicle is provided, and travel expenses are company-paid.
Key Responsibilities
High-Volume Sourcing:
Leverage diverse recruiting methods—job boards (Indeed, LinkedIn), community networks, trade schools, and social media—to identify, attract, and engage hourly landscaping candidates.
Talent Pipeline Management:
Build and nurture relationships with local schools, community organizations, and referral sources to maintain a steady flow of prospective crew members. Establish a database of community organizations.
Candidate Screening & Selection:
Conduct initial interviews in English and/or Spanish and provide qualified candidates to branch managers for hiring consideration. Use the applicant tracking system (ATS) to manage candidate information and hiring decisions.
Onboarding & Retention:
Coordinate the initial onboarding process for new hires, ensuring a smooth transition into the company. Conduct exit interviews to gain insights into employee retention and inform future recruitment strategies.
Collaboration with Management:
Partner with branch managers, the VP of HR, and other stakeholders to anticipate staffing needs, address worker shortages proactively, and align hiring efforts with business goals.
Employer Branding & Community Outreach:
Represent the company at job fairs, school visits, and community events, showcasing our brand’s values, professional development opportunities, and supportive team environment.
Qualifications & Skills
Education & Language:
High school diploma or equivalent. Must be fully bilingual in English and Spanish, with strong reading and writing skills in both languages.
Communication & Interpersonal Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of building trust and rapport with candidates, hiring managers, and external partners.
Technical Proficiency:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with ATS platforms.
Organizational Excellence:
Detail-oriented, able to multitask, prioritize effectively, and maintain accurate recruitment records.
Driver's License:
Valid driver’s license required.
Self-Motivation:
Able to work independently, adapt to changing priorities, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Experience
Industry Knowledge:
Prior recruiting experience in landscaping, construction, facilities, or similar service industries.
Community Partnerships:
Proven ability to establish and maintain relationships with community-based organizations, schools, and referral networks.
Flexible Schedule:
Willingness to work evenings and weekends for recruiting events.
