Assistant Wellness Editor (Temporary), New York Post
News Corporation, New York, NY, United States
Job Description
The New York Post provides readers with the best in News, Sports, Pop Culture and Entertainment — with signature wit, irreverence and authority averaging 90 million unique viewers a month. Over the past 224 years, The Post has evolved into a multi-platform media company spanning print, digital, video, audio, app, television and commerce.
The New York Post is looking for a full-time
Temporary Assistant Wellness Editor
(M-F) with an anticipated engagement running from mid-May through mid-December.
Reporting to the Wellness Editor, the ideal candidate is plugged into the world of health and wellness — and brimming with ideas. You must be a self-starter who can juggle a mix of reporting, writing and editing, working under deadline while still maintaining close attention to detail. We’re seeking a journalist who can translate complex health data into buzzy, tabloid-style hits without sacrificing accuracy, while also keeping a lookout for the next wellness trend no one’s covered yet.
Responsibilities
Write and publish about one story a day. These will include quick hits like a summary of a new health study or a service-driven article, plus lengthier pieces on trends and case studies.
Develop both faster turnaround and longer‑lead features. For example, you might talk to someone in a pharmaceutical class‑action suit for a newsy exclusive like this story (https://nypost.com/2025/12/08/health/long-island-mom-suing-birth-control-company-after-developing-brain-tumor/), or you could talk to multiple case studies and doctors for a trend piece like this one (https://nypost.com/2026/02/26/health/we-lost-weight-on-glp-1-drugs-and-then-lost-our-sex-drives/).
Assist the Wellness Editor in editing stories by Wellness Reporters.
Help execute brand partnerships, including liaising with brand representatives, writing copy, and seeing content through the print production process.
Think strategically about the daily news cycle to identify stories that will generate traffic, drive engagement and generally get people talking.
Understand The Post’s voice and point of view to most effectively reach readers with important and relevant information about their health.
Requirements
At least 3 years of experience as an editor in an online news environment, ideally with a focus on health and wellness
Proficiency in digital strategy, analytics and SEO best practices and tools
Experience managing and mentoring reporters of varying experience levels
Excellent judgment as to what drives audiences across various digital platforms
A genuine interest in health, wellness and lifestyle topics, with a commitment to providing accurate and valuable information to readers
Ability to work a full-time M-F 10–6 schedule
Note: This position will be expected to adhere to a hybrid work model and be on‑site 3 days per week.
Please note that this is a temporary engagement facilitated through a third‑party vendor. While the role supports The New York Post, employment and payroll will be managed by the vendor.
Equal Opportunity Employer All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, protected veteran status, disability status or any other protected characteristic. EEO/Disabled/Vets
