: Full time, year around, 260 day contract; 20-30 days vacation depending upon experience; Medical, Dental, Vision Insurance; Longevity incentive after five years; 12 sick days per year; Salary Schedule placement dependant upon candidate status, education and experience. Certified Admin: $140,000-$155,000, Classified Admin: $126,000-$140,000. Start date: Summer 2026

POSITION SUMMARY
: Director of Human Resources provides leadership, coordination, and operational oversight for the district human resources services and manages all employee-related operations. Works collaboratively with other department leaders to ensure consistent, effective, and legally compliant personnel systems and practices across the district. The Director oversees key human resources processes including but not limited to recruitment, staffing, employee relations, investigations, contract administration, benefits, and compliance with state and federal labor laws and district policies and collective bargaining agreements. Supervise HR staff to ensure efficient, responsive, and compliant human resource operations that support the District’s strategic goals and workforce needs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Recruit and Hire Staff:
Plan and oversee recruitment for teachers, administrators, and classified staff.
Post job openings, screen applications, and coordinate interviews.
Ensure candidates meet certification and licensing requirements.
Prepare employment contracts and offer letters
Personnel Management:
Maintain personnel records for all district employees.
Manage employee transfers, promotions, resignations, and terminations.
Supervise HR staff and coordinate HR department operations.
Civil Rights Coordinator: Human Resource Director
Provide guidance to principals and administrators on staffing issues
Employee Management | Employee relations and conflict resolution
Address employee concerns, complaints, and grievances.
Facilitate conflict resolution between staff and supervisors.
Support a positive workplace culture and communication.
Investigate workplace issues or misconduct.
Develop HR Policies & Procedures | Policy and Legal Compliance:
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
Implement policies related to employment, discrimination, ADA, FMLA, PFML, and labor regulations.
Maintain compliance with school district policies and collective bargaining agreements.
Compensation and Benefits Administration | Manage payroll & employee records
Manage salary schedules and employee pay placement.
Oversee employee benefits (health insurance, retirement, leave).
Coordinate workers’ compensation and unemployment claims.
Ensure proper payroll and benefits administration.
Staff Training and Professional Development:
Develop and oversee employee compliance training programs including building secretaries.
Support professional development opportunities.
Implement performance evaluation systems for staff.
Support leadership development for administrators.
Strategic Planning and Leadership:
Advise the superintendent and school board on HR matters.
Develop long-term staffing strategies.
Analyze workforce data and recommend improvements.
Lead initiatives to recruit and retain high-quality staff.
Budget & HR Program Management:
Manage the HR department budget.
Oversee HR systems and personnel databases.
Coordinate district-wide HR programs and services.
Organizational Support and Labor Relations
Represents HR on district committees, task forces and collaborative teams.
Serves as member of the District Office Team, Safety Committee
Assists Superintendent and may lead District in labor management meetings, bargaining, interprets collective bargaining agreements and ensures consistent application across the District.
May serve as Public Records Officer
Performs other duties, as assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in Human resources Management Personnel Administration, Public Administration, or related field.
Masters Degree in Educational Leadership with a Principal or Program Administrator Certificate desirable.
Minimum of 5 years of leadership or administrative experience in human resources, labor relations, public administration, education or related field, supervision of staff.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Proven successful departmental/building management and leadership.
Ability and experience to develop and implement department budget.
Professional knowledge and skills to build a structure of relationships.
Knowledge of human resources management principles and best practices.
Knowledge of Washington State labor and employment law, including public sector collective bargaining.
Knowledge of applicable federal employment laws and regulations.
Knowledge of collective bargaining principles, labor relations practices, and contract administration.
Knowledge of principles and practices of employee relations, workplace investigations, and personnel management.
Knowledge of principles of supervision and organizational leadership.
Demonstrated ability to build collaborative and productive relationships with labor partners and stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with employees, administrators, labor representatives, and community members.
Ability to analyze complex personnel issues and develop sound recommendations.
Ability to lead and support HR staff and coordinate work across functional areas.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain confidentiality.
Ability to analyze data related to personnel costs, staffing, and HR operations.
Ability to adapt to the needs of the District and employees.
Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate them when appropriate.
Proficiency with computer systems, spreadsheets, and database software
Must have understanding and knowledge of the characteristics of a rural, growing, diverse educational program.
Desire to become civically engaged and live in our community.
High level of personal energy, a positive outlook, approachable, visible, accessible, individual who demonstrates honesty, integrity, dependability, fairness and a sense of humor.

Essential physical tasks include using hands for typing, frequent talking/hearing for communication, and occasional light lifting (10–25 lbs). Occasional walking, standing, bending, and maneuvering.
