
Deputy Parks & Recreation Director

IN THIS POSITION, YOU WILL:
Research, identify, prepare and apply for grant and alternative funding sources to support recreation, events, and capital programming.
Provide executive oversight for the planning, production, and delivery of the Town’s special events, including signature community events, holiday celebrations, concerts, cultural programming, sporting events, and partner-produced events on Town properties.
Coordinate cross-departmental event logistics involving public safety, public works, creative services, economic development, and other town departments; serve as primary liaison between the department and external event producers, sponsors, and promoters.
Develop and manage special event budgets, sponsorship programs, and cost-recovery strategies; evaluate event return on investment and community impact.
Oversee the development and administration of recreation facility use schedules, user fee structures, and program registration systems.
Establish and oversee policies and standards for the procurement, contracting, and performance evaluation of contracted recreation instructors, program vendors, and event service providers.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Public Administration, Parks and Recreation Management, Business Administration, or a closely related field and a minimum of six (6) years progressively responsible management and supervisory experience in parks and recreation including direct responsibility for recreation programming and/or special events.
Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience overseeing professional-level staff.
The successful candidate must pass a pre-employment background screening.
Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP) or Certified Parks and Recreation Executive (CPRE) or ability to obtain within time frame designated by the Town.
