
Marketing and Communications Internship (Unpaid)

Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions
Write blog posts.
Assist with social media content development, including short- and long-form video creation.
Support photos/video file organization and tagging.
Create, edit and publish video content for social media, website, events and promotional campaigns.
Support the development of digital and print media, marketing collateral, advertisements, presentations and promotional pieces as assigned.
Provide planning and logistical support for special events.
Track and organize media clippings, including on our website.
Update media contact list, as needed.
Assist with website content management via WordPress.
Submit event postings to community calendars.
Assist with ordering, handling and inventory of promotional products.
Assist with graphic design, if applicable.
Participate in all-staff and team meetings.
Perform other duties as may be assigned by the supervisory team.
These internship responsibilities are the main emphasis of this position. As with every internship position at United Way, professionals will assist in any way necessary to assure an efficient and cooperative environment.
Experience & Qualifications
Applicant should possess motivation to help people, a non-judgmental attitude, excellent interpersonal skills, and an ability to empathize.
Intern must be a college student pursuing a bachelor’s degree; communications, marketing, public relations or related field preferred.
One year of experience in a related field required.
Proficiency in oral and written communication.
Strong writing skills with AP style knowledge.
Ability to work a flexible schedule given special events or other meetings.
Entry-level website content management skills.
Entry-level photography and photo‑editing skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
Social media management skills are a plus but not required.
Graphic design skills are a plus but not required.
Videography and audio‑capturing skills are a plus but not required.
Demonstrated proficiency in the use of computer equipment, phones, various software programs and resource file.
Ability to work effectively under stress and maintain productivity and composure under pressure.
Comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment.
Adapt readily to changes.
Use good judgment and assessment techniques.
Work with minimal supervision.
Effectively prioritize work and establish clear goals with supervisor.
Pass a background check.
Pass pre‑employment drug screening.
Keep all activities in line with the core values and contribute to the positive culture of United Way of Northeast Florida.
Actively participate in the broader organizational activities and be a brand steward within the community, outside agencies and/or programs to enhance United Way services to the community.
Work Environment
Interns may only work in the office, not remotely (policy). The internship will be for three days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday).

General Physical Requirements for Essential Functions The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an intern to successfully perform the essential functions of this internship. While performing the duties of this internship the intern is regularly required to sit, talk, and/or hear. Continual use of the hands with wrist and finger movement using a keyboard is required. Specific vision abilities required include long hours viewing a computer monitor screen. The intern may occasionally travel using personal vehicle and/or work outside normal office environment.
