Position Summary The Physical Therapy Program at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) within the College of Allied Health Professions seeks a dynamic faculty member with broad clinical expertise and experience in research and service. This 12‑month, tenure‑eligible appointment includes teaching, scholarly activity, service, and an option for clinical practice. The faculty member will teach core and elective content, mentor students, and contribute to curriculum development.
Responsibilities
Teach physical therapy content in areas of expertise and adapt to other entry‑level assignments.
Develop, assess, and continuously improve the curriculum to ensure high‑quality outcomes and alignment with accreditation standards.
Mentor and advise students.
Collaborate with students, faculty, staff, administrators, and colleagues in team‑taught courses.
Maintain or establish a successful research/scholarly agenda aligned with the program’s mission.
Mentor professional students involved in scholarly activities.
Participate in service and governance activities for the program, college, university, community, and profession.
Optional clinical practice (to be negotiated).
Required Qualifications
Unencumbered PT license and eligibility for licensure in Nebraska.
Earned clinical Doctor of Physical Therapy degree.
ABPTS certification or an earned academic doctoral degree.
Membership in the American Physical Therapy Association.
Experience teaching physical therapy content at the entry‑level or graduate level.
Evidence of a professional service reputation (e.g., officer or committee membership in a state, regional, or national professional society).
Evidence of an established research/scholarly agenda (publications, presentations, etc.).
Residence in the Kearney or Omaha, Nebraska area and ability to work on the associated campus.
Capacity to travel between the Omaha and Kearney campuses as needed.
Ability to work independently, lead and coordinate with teams.
Excellent interpersonal communication, organization, and problem‑solving skills.
Supplemental Qualifications
Earned an academic doctorate (candidate status acceptable).
Ongoing engagement or leadership record in the American Physical Therapy Association or APTA‑Nebraska.
Teaching experience leading class and lab activities in a physical therapist education program.
Broad clinical expertise, including foundational skills, anatomy, clinical reasoning, professionalism, physical agents, and practice management.

Exposures include blood/body fluids, electrical current, operating hand/power tools; PPE required. Clinical practice involves direct patient contact and use of medical equipment.
