
Equity Capital Markets Managing Director

A premier public-listed global investment bank is seeking an experienced, highly motivated, and talented Managing Director for their growing middle market and small-cap investment banking and capital markets practice. Your mission is to lead a dedicated ECM team responsible for deepening relationships with core North America clients — including large public companies, private equity-backed companies, and financial sponsors — and leading and executing complex equity financing transactions, including IPOs, CMPOs, follow‑on offerings, convertibles, SPAC/deSPAC advisory, M&A advisory, and other equity‑linked structured products. The MD should be a generalist with broad experiences across various sectors such as Industrials, Technology, Healthcare, Business Services, Consumer and Retail, Mining, and Financials. You will report to the President of the U.S.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Build out North America’s investment banking and capital markets business in close partnership with senior executives across global offices
- Actively pursue business development opportunities and originate new client engagements across industry sectors and product offerings
- Develop and execute the ECM business strategy for North America, defining market priorities and driving revenue growth and market share
- Lead and execute all types of equity capital markets transactions via deal structuring, pricing, bookbuilding, and allocation strategies
- Recruit, mentor, develop, and motivate a team of high‑performing ECM bankers and analysts; foster a culture of excellence and client focus
- Maintain deep knowledge of equity capital markets trends, investor needs, regulatory changes, and competitive dynamics
- Ensure all business activities adhere to the firm’s compliance and risk control standards
QUALIFICATIONS
- Undergraduate degree required; MBA or graduate degree a plus. Minimum 15 years of investment banking, capital markets, or private equity experience with meaningful ECM transaction history.
- Proven track record of fee generation through originating, executing, and closing investment banking engagements.
- Established relationships with private equity firms, middle market businesses, family offices, venture capital, and other referral sources
- Deep knowledge, expertise, and transaction history within selected industry sector(s); SPAC/deSPAC advisory experience a plus
- Demonstrated experience managing client relationships, transactions, and investment banking teams
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to present confidently to client executives and senior management
- Proven leadership skills — able to attract, develop, retain, and motivate top talent
LICENSING & COMPLIANCE
SIE, FINRA Series 63 (or 66), and Series 79 required within 90 days of hire if not transferable. Series 24 preferred. Subject to FINRA Background Screening Requirements. Travel up to 50% of the time.
