Employee Relations Representative
Overview
The Employee Relations professionals at Electric Boat serve as a strategic partner to leadership and HR teams by managing employee relations matters, conducting workplace investigations and advising leadership on disciplinary actions and termination decisions. This position focuses on resolving employee issues, mitigating organizational risk and fostering a fair and compliant workplace environment. In this role the selected candidate must be able to develop relationships quickly and earn trust with their client groups. Strong interpersonal and customer service skills to support HR and the overall business strategy.
In addition to the above the selected person will also be responsible for:
Investigate violations of company policies and procedures and issue corrective action as necessary
Advise managers on progressive discipline and termination decisions
Manage escalated employee conflicts
Partner with legal, security and medical on sensitive terminations or litigation risks
Facilitate a strong leadership and coaching culture
Maintain knowledge of progressive HR practices and key trends
Review and benchmark the internal and external environment to improve HR policies and initiatives
Qualifications Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree
Must have at least 5 years of related experience in Employee Relations or other people related field such as Investigations, Security, safety of employee or business wellbeing.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance through the department of defense
Must be available for all shifts, including extended hours and weekends as business needs dictate
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous Employee Relations experience
Working knowledge of national and state employment laws (ADA, FMLA, etc.)
Knowledge of full range of people practices related to goal setting, performance assessment and improvement, compensation practices, attendance and leave practices, reductions in force, etc.
