Job Duties
Recruit and source talent, attend job fairs and host them onsite.
Knowledge of state recruitment and selection process.
Candidate screening, including background, reference checks, and drug screens.
Assist with orientation of new hires as needed.
Communicate effectively with the public, state officials, and employees.
Correspond and communicate independently.
Handle multiple time‑sensitive assignments simultaneously.
Maintain proper grammar, spelling and punctuation.
Maintain effective working relationships; collect, compile, and analyze information and apply laws, policies, and procedures.
Operate HR computer programs including Microsoft Office, applicant tracking systems, and time‑clock management.
Knowledge of state benefits and policies, including Workers Compensation, FMLA, VSDP, and LTD.
May be required to assist the agency or state government during an emergency declaration by the Governor.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or Equivalent.
1 year of experience working in functional areas of Human Resources, or in an administrative support role.
Recruitment Experience Strong recruitment experience required. Must have strong knowledge of recruitment practices.
