
Continuous Improvement Intern

Overview
The Continuous Improvement Intern will support ongoing initiatives to improve manufacturing efficiency, quality, and productivity. This role provides hands-on experience in Lean manufacturing, data analysis, and process optimization while working closely with operations, engineering, and supply chain teams.
The intern will assist in identifying improvement opportunities, analyzing data, and contributing to projects that enhance overall plant performance.
Key Responsibilities
Support Continuous Improvement (CI) projects across production, engineering, and supply chain teams
Assist in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data to identify trends and improvement opportunities
Participate in Lean activities such as 5S, Kaizen events, and Value Stream Mapping
Help track and report Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as productivity, quality, and downtime
Work with cross‑functional teams to document current processes and recommend improvements
Assist in developing visual management tools (dashboards, boards, standard work documents)
Observe shop floor processes and identify inefficiencies or waste
Support root cause analysis activities (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone diagrams)
Help maintain documentation for continuous improvement initiatives
Learning Opportunities

Qualifications
Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in: Engineering (Industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing preferred)
Business, Operations, or related field
Strong interest in manufacturing and continuous improvement
Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
Analytical mindset with attention to detail
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Preferred Qualifications (Not Required)
Exposure to Lean, Six Sigma, or process improvement concepts
Experience with data analysis or coursework in statistics
Familiarity with manufacturing environments or internships
Physical / Work Environment
Combination of office and shop floor environment
May require standing, walking, and observing production processes
