
Civil Superintendent

Job Summary
The Civil Superintendent is responsible for directing, coordinating, and overseeing all civil and sitework operations for a hyperscale data center project. This role ensures that earthwork, utilities, foundations, roadways, drainage, and all associated civil scopes are executed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with project requirements. Working closely with project management, engineers, and trade partners, the Civil Superintendent drives field productivity, maintains schedule alignment, and upholds the highest standards of quality and safety. This position requires strong leadership, deep civil construction expertise, and the ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, high‑security environment.
Primary Duties
Direct and coordinate all civil construction activities, including earthwork, grading, utilities, stormwater systems, concrete foundations, and site infrastructure.
Collaborate with owner representatives, engineers, inspectors, and subcontractors to ensure seamless execution of civil scopes.
Lead daily coordination with trade partners, ensuring clear communication of expectations, sequencing, and priorities.
Conduct preconstruction meetings with civil subcontractors prior to each phase of work.
Mentor junior team members and support a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Develop and maintain site logistics plans specific to civil operations, including haul routes, laydown areas, traffic control, and equipment staging.
Plan manpower and equipment needs to support aggressive hyperscale schedules.
Participate in the development and management of the CPM schedule, including short‑term look‑ahead planning for civil activities.
Evaluate field progress against the plan and implement recovery strategies when necessary.
Coordinate heavy equipment mobilization, crane operations, and specialized civil equipment.
Lead daily safety briefings, toolbox talks, and site inspections with a strong focus on excavation safety, trenching, shoring, and equipment operations.
Enforce compliance with OSHA standards, company safety procedures, and hyperscale client‑specific safety requirements.
Identify hazards, report incidents, and promote a proactive safety culture.
Ensure quality control for all civil work, including compaction testing, utility installation, concrete placement, and erosion control measures.
Interpret and utilize civil drawings, specifications, geotechnical reports, and contract documents.
Perform constructability reviews and provide input to engineering teams.
Maintain accurate as‑built documentation, redlines, and revision logs for all civil scopes.
Review and verify quantity takeoffs, materials procurement, and delivery schedules.
Track milestone completion and ensure civil work aligns with overall project sequencing.
Manage punch list development and completion for all civil scopes.
Support commissioning teams by ensuring site infrastructure is complete, accessible, and compliant.
Assist with turnover documentation, testing records, and final inspections.
Demonstrate company values, professionalism, and integrity at all times.
Follow company Code of Conduct and uphold high ethical standards.
Perform additional duties as assigned by project leadership to support successful project delivery.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
Minimum 6 years of civil construction experience, preferably on large‑scale, fast‑paced, or mission‑critical projects.
Experience managing civil scopes valued over $1 million.
Strong understanding of civil planning, scheduling, and sequencing.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting civil drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
Solid understanding of financial and cost‑control principles.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel); experience with scheduling software is a plus.
Experience working on hyperscale data centers or other mission‑critical facilities is highly desirable.
