Irvington Theater is a historic performing arts venue located in Irvington, New York, in Westchester County. Built in 1902 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the theater has served as a cultural centerpiece for the community for more than a century.
Today, Irvington Theater produces original programming and presents work by arts partners and visiting presenters across theater, music, film, comedy, and dance. The theater’s 432 seat auditorium blends historic architecture with modern upgrades and is considered a premier performance venue in the Rivertowns.
Irvington Theater’s mission is to curate innovative cultural programming that entertains, enlightens, and inspires. The theater is managed by a full time Theater Manager who collaborates with a volunteer Theater Commission on artistic programming and long term vision. Irvington Theater partners with artists and organizations to amplify diverse voices and creative work and is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion in both process and performance.
Position Overview
Irvington Theater is seeking a Branding and Content Consultant to help strengthen and refine the theater’s visual identity, messaging, and marketing materials. This consultant will work with theater staff to develop a cohesive brand presence across digital and print platforms while creating marketing content that supports programming, audience development, and community engagement.
The consultant will focus on branding, design, messaging, and communications strategy. Social media posting will be handled by theater staff, but the consultant will help develop content and creative assets that support the theater’s overall marketing efforts.
Key Responsibilities
Brand Development and Messaging
The consultant will:
Help refine Irvington Theater’s brand identity and messaging to ensure consistency across communications.
Provide guidance on tone, visual style, and messaging priorities that align with the theater’s mission and programming.
Develop a communications framework that supports audience development and community engagement.
Collaborate with theater staff and the Theater Commission to ensure the brand reflects the theater’s artistic vision and community role.
Marketing and Content Creation
The consultant will:
Create visual and written marketing materials for theater productions and special events.
Develop creative assets for digital and print platforms including:
Social media graphics
Posters and flyers
Postcards and promotional materials
Email and website graphics
Adapt content across multiple formats while maintaining brand consistency.
Work within Irvington Theater’s existing brand guidelines and help evolve them as needed.
Campaign Development
The consultant will:
Develop marketing and branding concepts for productions, events, and seasonal programming.
Recommend strategies for promoting performances and building audience awareness.
Provide guidance on how marketing content can be used effectively across different platforms.
Collaboration and Implementation Support
The consultant will work with theater staff on:
Paid advertising campaigns, including messaging and creative assets.
Print production coordination and preparing files for designated vendors.
Marketing planning aligned with the theater’s programming calendar.
Qualifications
Ideal candidates will demonstrate:
Experience in branding, communications, or marketing for arts, cultural, nonprofit, or community organizations.
Strong graphic design and visual communication skills.
Experience developing brand identity and messaging strategies.
Ability to work within and refine established brand guidelines.
Strong communication skills and a collaborative working style.
Compensation and Terms
$26 per hour
Up to 25 hours per week
Contract term to be determined (anticipated 6 to 12 months)
