
Oil and Gas Technical Sales Rep — Path to Field Engineer

Our client, a global leader in engineering solutions, is seeking an Application Sales Representative to join their growing Oil & Gas team. This role offers a strong mix of technical application support and direct customer engagement, making it an ideal step for someone looking to build a career in technical sales.
You’ll work closely with Field Sales Engineers while also engaging directly with customers through calls, meetings, and occasional site visits. This is a development role with a clear path into a Field Sales Engineer position. Ideally, this role would work out of the company’s Calgary office however would also consider candidates in Red Deer or Edmonton.
What You’ll Do
Provide technical product selection and application support to customers and sales teams, operating primarily in an inside sales capacity with occasional exposure to outside sales.
Work directly with clients to understand their needs and recommend effective solutions
Support and participate in customer meetings, joint sales calls, and site visits
Manage and grow a pipeline of opportunities from inquiry to close
Contribute to achieving sales targets through a consultative, solutions-based approach
What You Bring
Technical degree or diploma in Mechanical, Chemical, or related field
2–3+ years of experience in technical sales, applications, or a similar role
Exposure to Oil & Gas, or industrial equipment is an asset
Ability to interpret technical documents and specifications
Strong communication skills and a customer-focused mindset
Background in thermodynamics or related discipline is considered an asset
Willingness to travel approximately 25% at times with odd extended overnight travel
Compensation
Base: $90–$100K with a bonus which could target income at $110-120K
Total Compensation: $110,000 – $120,000
