Position Overview Our client, a well-established and growing professional services firm, is seeking a
Director of Administration
to serve as a key operational and financial leader. This is a highly visible, hands-on role responsible for overseeing accounting and finance functions while also supporting HR and overall office operations.
The ideal candidate is a
strong accounting and finance professional
who also brings a “utility player” mindset – someone comfortable wearing multiple hats in a small to mid-sized firm environment. Experience in a
professional services or law firm setting
is highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities Accounting & Finance (Primary Focus)
Oversee all day-to-day accounting operations including GL, AP/AR, payroll, and month-end close
Prepare monthly financial statements, reporting packages, and budget-to-actual analysis
Lead budgeting and forecasting processes
Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and financial controls
Ensure compliance with tax filings, audits, and regulatory requirements
Partner with external CPA/auditors
Administrative & Operational Leadership
Oversee office operations, vendor selection, and facilities management
Support overall business operations and process improvements
Act as a key liaison across departments to ensure operational efficiency
Human Resources & Compliance
Oversee HR functions including onboarding, personnel files, and employee relations
Ensure compliance with employment laws and HR best practices
Support performance review processes and general HR administration
Executive & Board Support
Serve as Secretary to the Board of Directors
Prepare board materials and financial reports
Partner with executive leadership on strategic and operational initiatives
Qualifications Required
7+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including Controller or senior-level responsibilities
Strong technical accounting knowledge (GAAP)
Experience managing or supporting HR and administrative functions
Ability to operate effectively in a small or mid-sized organization
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
Preferred
Experience in a professional services, consulting, or law firm environment (Firm Administrator-type background highly desired)
CPA or similar certification preferred
Experience supporting executive leadership and/or board reporting
Ideal Candidate Profile
