The Senior Counsel will be part of the Corporate Governance organization and based in Pittsburgh, PA, Philadelphia, PA, or Birmingham, AL.
Job Description The Senior Counsel will provide comprehensive legal support to the Business Credit group, focusing on asset‑based lending transactions. The role requires a seasoned attorney capable of handling complex secured lending matters, managing negotiations, updating legal forms, and advising on a wide range of legal issues.
Key responsibilities include:
Performing significant and complex legal work while regularly interacting with management—overseeing research, analysis, consultation, and documentation within a framework of compliance and risk management.
Managing outside counsel relationships and expenses, and providing strategic direction on when to engage counsel.
Combining outside counsel advice with internal stakeholder analysis to deliver practical guidance.
Networking with external organizations to advance legal interests and the corporation’s legal health.
Customer‑focused responsibilities such as aligning solutions with customer needs and satisfaction.
Managing risk to ensure adherence to PNC’s Enterprise Risk Management Framework.
Qualifications Requirements: Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school, admission to practice law in at least one jurisdiction, and 8+ years of industry‑relevant experience, typically in asset‑based lending or secured transactions.
Key skills and competencies:
Legal compliance, consulting, risk assessment, and regulatory compliance.
Business ethics, critical thinking, effective communication, establishing and maintaining trust.
Negotiation, problem solving, influencing through expertise, and legal analysis.
Preferred: Multiple state licenses and experience in federal regulatory environments.
