Position Overview
East Carolina University Department of Campus Recreation & Wellness is currently seeking a Marketing Assistant for the Summer 2026 term. The department offers a wide range of recreation, fitness, and wellness programs across a state‑of‑the‑art Student Recreation Center, multi‑sport field complex, and outdoor adventure facilities.
Responsibilities and Duties Special Projects
Proactively initiate marketing projects aligned with the CRW marketing plan.
Assist the marketing graduate assistant with banner and poster production.
Help incorporate content into the ECU Localist web page.
Support oversight of the CRW internship program.
Serve as lead mentor to student interns, guiding them with the coordinator and graduate assistant.
Graphic Design
Create marketing materials such as bulletin board calendars, program flyers, and banners using various design programs.
Assessment
Assist in developing and implementing the CRW marketing plan.
Identify emerging social media trends to enhance recruitment.
Help design, collect, and analyze data from surveys, observations, focus groups, and analytics tools.
Research collaborations with other university recreation departments.
Recommend new marketing initiatives to boost brand awareness.
Social Media
Maintain CRW Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok accounts using scheduling software.
Review weekly and special event social media calendars created by CRW interns.
Create and edit content for CRW website newsletters and email campaigns.
Attend CRW special events to provide live social media coverage.
Outreach
Assist with tabling and street team activities to promote events and campus spirit.
Help present CRW activities to campus groups such as COAD and COM classes and residence halls.
Qualifications
Minimum one‑year marketing experience.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Basic knowledge of social media platforms.
Experience in public speaking and writing.
Strong mentorship skills and initiative.
Extensive understanding of various social media forms.
Minimum two years of college coursework in Business or Communication.
Available to work approximately 15–20 hours per week.
Preferred Background Marketing, Communications, Business related majors.
