The Association of Alaska School Boards (AASB) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting school boards across Alaska in their mission to provide quality public education. Job Summary We are seeking an organized and collaborative individual to join our Conditions for Learning (CFL) team with the Association of Alaska School Boards. This position creates strong communications and organizational systems for the CFL team. This position will help with organizing and sharing the work of the CFL team that focuses on student well‑being, youth leadership, family engagement, and school improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and execute communications deliverables for grants and key projects
Develop and maintain digital platforms and content to support engagement and program goals
Create publications and materials for partners, including school districts, educators, families, and youth
Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to support grant implementation, storytelling, and outreach efforts
Promote events, trainings, and initiatives through coordinated communication strategies
Manage content creation across channels, including newsletters, blogs, social media, and multimedia
Collect and manage data (e.g., surveys, partner input) to support communications and impact storytelling
Serve as liaison with the broader communications team to align messaging and support organizational priorities
Standardize and manage communication tools, branding, and materials across projects
QUALIFICATIONS Education
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of communications, public relations, business, or education preferred.
Experience may be considered in place of a degree.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Excellent interpersonal communication skills
Understanding of effective communication strategies for promoting AASB’s work
Understanding of the people and communities of Alaska
Strong organizational skills
Ability to carry out multiple projects simultaneously and project management
Commitment to support school improvement, student outcomes, and our team
Writing and copy editing
Problem‑solving ability
Experience
Working with in‑person and remote teams.
Developing materials to promote programs or services.
Experience using WordPress and Bricks Builder for web design and content production.
Using social media and other platforms for communication.
Experience working with teams and contractors.
Experience using DocuSign, Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, AirTable, Adobe Creative Cloud suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.), Canva, and other publication software.
