The RDNBD manages tactical sales execution, allowing Area Vice Presidents to focus on P&L health while shielding New Business Developers from operational ‘fire‑fighting.’ Key responsibilities include enforcing rigorous prospect bucketing, ensuring 120–180 day account hand‑offs to Account Managers, and meeting aggressive growth targets without exception.
Responsibilities
- Guide the NBD team with a specific focus on pipeline velocity and acquisition.
- Conduct a consistent, high‑impact weekly rhythm with AVPs to advance collaborative action.
- Standardize pipeline protocols, including bucketing prospects (A, B, C, D accounts) based on signing timelines.
- Facilitate the NBD hand‑off of signed accounts to AMs between 120‑180 days.
- Advocate for NBDs to remain “unencumbered” by operational fire‑fighting.
- Ensure new sales growth targets are met as a core priority.
- Develop and execute sales plans utilizing Airgas’ sales directives and guidelines.
- Identify and connect with key customer stakeholders at all levels within targeted customers.
- Qualify and pursue new sales leads in both existing and new customers, primarily new Airgas customers.
- Collaborate with all available resources to accomplish growth objectives.
- Maintain clear and consistent lines of communication with internal departments related to new customer developments.
- Distinguish among Airgas Channels (Outside‑Sales, Total Access, eBusiness) to serve customers effectively.
- Reach sales agreements and finalize signings of PSAs.
- Keep current with industry insights, Airgas product offerings, and market information.
- Interact with AVP through maintenance and submission of required reports.
- Actively review and partner in the management of existing customer Accounts Receivable balances.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- 5–10 years of outside B2B sales experience, including solution‑selling concepts and adding value to new customers.
- Prior direct business development sales experience building and nurturing a sustainable and profitable book of business.
- Reliable transportation, a current driver’s license, and minimum liability insurance.
- Knowledge of customer segmentation and prioritization for high‑value accounts.
- Capability to guide customer interactions with industry insights and link business priorities to the Airgas value proposition.
- Demonstrated success using deep knowledge of customer business, macro‑ and micro‑economic trends, industry trends, and new business opportunities.
- Understanding of the customer’s buying process and proactive facilitation of purchase decisions.
- Data‑informed decision-making to frame next steps with customers.
- Excellent organizational, written, oral communication, listening, and presentation skills.
- Proactive, goal‑oriented, and effective in a self‑directed environment.
- Thoughtful analytical and planning skills.
- Problem‑solving ability in complex, variable situations.
- Consistent achievement of assigned financial goals.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with industrial and specialty gases, industrial gas/welding supply sales, and safety supplies.
- Experience using a Smartphone and/or Tablet to enhance productivity and customer connection.
- Strong PC skills (Google or MS Office applications) with ability to adapt to PC‑based order entry and handheld scanning.
Benefits
- Medical, Dental, Vision plans; short‑term and long‑term disability; life and AD&D insurance.
- Employee Assistance Program (EAP); pre‑tax commuter transportation benefit.
- Parental leave; vacation; sick time; floating holidays; jury duty and funeral/bereavement leave; paid holidays for all eligible full‑time employees.
- 401(k) plan with company matching funds; tuition reimbursement; discounted college tuition for eligible employees’ dependents.
