With its roots in the cultural revival of American swing music and dance, CMDance has grown to become a leader in social dance education and arts programming in Colorado. Serving over 10,000 youth in Denver public schools, CMDance partners with organizations such as the Denver Art Museum and the Downtown Denver Partnership to promote dance and music as tools for community connection. All proceeds from CMDance’s internationally recognized annual dance events support its impactful youth programs, which foster creativity and movement in Denver’s early education classrooms.

Role Description

The Director of Brand & Development (Fractional Position) will oversee and lead CMDance’s Marketing development initiatives, and community outreach efforts. Responsibilities include managing the organization’s public image, creating and implementing brand development campaigns, driving marketing and sales strategies, and conducting market research to identify growth opportunities. This is a part-time, on-site role based in Denver, CO.

Job Summary

CMDance is seeking a Strategic Fractional Marketing Director to provide a high-level roadmap and vision for our 501(c)(3) non-profit brand. You will provide the direction and leadership necessary for our in-house team to excel, and provide hands on assistance when needed. Your primary objective is to elevate the CMDance brand and ensure organizational sustainability by architecting strategies to grow our donor base, secure corporate sponsorships, and cultivate community support. By strengthening our brand identity and development pipeline, you will naturally drive attendance to our monthly series and six annual national festivals as a byproduct of a robust, engaged community. Your leadership will directly empower our mission of providing arts education to 10,000+ Colorado students annually.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Roadmap & Vision: Define and maintain a high-level marketing and brand roadmap that aligns with CMDance’s 501(c)(3) mission and long-term financial goals.
  • Leadership & Mentorship: Provide clear direction and professional guidance to the in-house team, ensuring they have the tools and clarity needed to succeed.
  • Strategic Execution (Hands-On): While leading the team, you will be expected to directly execute high-impact projects , such as crafting major donor communications, refining core brand messaging, or architecting complex campaign frameworks.
  • Brand Stewardship: Serve as the guardian of the CMDance brand, ensuring a cohesive and professional narrative across all platforms that resonates with both local communities and the national arts scene.
  • Donor & Sponsorship Growth: Lead the strategy and initial outreach for expanding our donor base and securing corporate sponsorships. You will be the primary architect of these revenue-generating relationships.
  • Community & Partnership Development: Cultivate strategic alliances and high-level community support. While you will guide the team in filling seats, your focus is on building the ecosystem that makes attendance a natural byproduct.
  • Performance Team Outreach: Directly oversee and assist in the strategy for pitching and securing performance opportunities for our professional Performance Team at community and corporate events.
  • Experience: 5+ years in a senior marketing or brand strategy role (non-profit experience highly preferred).
  • Development Skills: Proven ability to create strategies that result in donor growth or successful corporate sponsorships.
  • Leadership: Experience managing or mentoring a creative team in a remote or hybrid environment.

Qualifications

  • 3-5+ years of experience in marketing (arts or non-profit experience preferred).
  • Proven track record in event-based marketing productions.
  • Strong networking skills with the ability to secure performance bookings.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Pay: From $35.00 per hour.
  • Performance Incentives: This role is eligible for additional compensation through a performance-based bonus structure tied to the successful procurement of corporate sponsorships and growth of the annual donor base.
  • Flexible Schedule: This is a fractional, remote-friendly role (approx. 5 hours/week) designed to fit alongside other professional commitments.
  • Paid Time Off: Accrued based on hours worked.
