Location: Description: Peer Recovery Specialist – COAST Program
United Services has an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of a new program, COAST (Community Outreach Assistance and Support Team) . We are seeking a dynamic Peer Recovery Specialist to join our COAST Program. The right candidate will also coordinate care with providers and case managers to collaborate to meet individuals where they are at, so their recovery and wellness are enhanced. The Peer Recovery Specialist will bring a peer perspective and experience to support and inspire others to achieve person-driven, self-defined, and achievable goals. Critical functions of the job include assisting in follow-up with medical care, promoting involvement with wellness and health promotion activities, including self-help, and modeling successful recovery strategies.
Program Overview:
COAST is a person-centered, recovery-orientated, and integrated service. All services will be provided in the community, including therapy by the clinician. COAST is not a “forever” service, and its purpose is to stabilize and assist high-need individuals in connecting to community resources for stabilization. It is an empowerment model of care, with a key assumption that the individual has the ability, given the resources and support, to manage their own mental health and substance conditions and achieve wellness, recovery, and stability.
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional weekend coverage may be required.
Education: Associate’s degree in a relevant field or a high school diploma and two years of experience required.
Certification:
Recovery Support Specialist or Recovery Coach from a DMHAS Approved Training Organization
We accept certifications through Advocacy Unlimited (AU) Hartford Healthcare-Recovery Leadership Academy (HHC-RLA) or Connecticut Community for Addiction Recovery (CCAR)
*Must be able to obtain Peer Support and Recovery Specialist Recovery Specialist Certification within one year of employment.
Reliable transportation and ability to transport clients in own car is a must. Mileage reimbursement is provided.
Salary Range:
$17.27–$19.54 per hour (depending on experience)
Bilingual (Spanish/English) rate of pay: $18.14–$20.53 per hour (depending on experience)
