Position Summary The Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for asphalt paving and civil construction projects. This role reviews project plans, performs quantity takeoffs, evaluates costs, and develops proposals that align with project requirements, operational capabilities, and profitability goals.

Key Responsibilities Estimating & Bidding Review plans, specifications, and project documents to develop detailed cost estimates. Perform quantity takeoffs for asphalt paving, base materials, grading, milling, drainage, and related scope items. Calculate labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs based on production rates and job complexity. Prepare and submit bids, proposals, and pricing packages within deadlines. Evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes for accuracy and competitiveness. Site Evaluation & Client Interaction Conduct site visits to assess conditions, measurements, access, and potential challenges. Communicate with customers, contractors, and stakeholders to clarify project scope. Provide recommendations on paving solutions and repair strategies. Collaboration & Project Support Partner with operations and project managers to ensure estimates reflect realistic execution plans. Support project handoff meetings and assist with contract and scope transitions. Provide input on scheduling, timelines, and resource planning. Data & Reporting Maintain estimating databases, cost history, and bid tracking information. Analyze historical data and market trends to improve estimating accuracy. Utilize estimating software, spreadsheets, and digital takeoff tools. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred. 3+ years of experience in asphalt paving, civil construction, or sitework estimating. Strong understanding of paving processes, materials, and production rates. Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications. Proficiency with estimating software (B2W preferred), Excel, and digital takeoff tools. Strong math, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and customer service abilities. Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites. Work Environment Combination of office and field environment. Ability to walk job sites, take measurements, and assess conditions. Use of standard PPE including hard hat, safety vest, gloves, and work boots. Additional Information No supervisory responsibilities. Requires ability to perform basic mathematical calculations including area, volume, and material conversions. xywuqvp Safety training and estimating software training may be required.
