Commercial Lending Manager

Under the direction of the FVP, Commercial Lending, responsible for identifying, developing, and managing high-value commercial lending relationships for both C&I and CRE clients. Collaborate across departments (Trust/Wealth Management, Retail, Cash Management and Residential) to provide a personal financial experience while ensuring all activities align with current regulatory frameworks and credit policies. Positively represent Dime Bank as a trusted ambassador and partner in our communities. Responsibilities: Portfolio Growth & Originating: Proactively source and structure commercial and industrial (C&I), and real estate (CRE) loans. Meet and exceed annual production goals through business development and a disciplined sales process. Strategic Relationship Management: Manage and deepen existing client relationships to ensure retention, cross-sell Retail Banking, Trust/Wealth Management services, Cash Management services, Residential Mortgages and identify new opportunities. Work with various centers of influence additionally for mutual referral opportunities. Credit Analysis: Evaluate financial statements, tax returns, and cash flow projections. Work closely with Credit Department to articulate risk profiles and recommend appropriate structures, pricing, and collateral. Negotiation: Negotiate and/or recommend credit terms, costs, rates, fees, covenants, and other loan specific terms in accordance with Bank's credit risk appetite and credit policy guidelines. Internal Collaboration: Serve as a lead partner in Business Development initiatives, referring clients to internal partners in Trust/Wealth Management, Residential Mortgage, and Retail deposit services to deepen the overall relationship. Risk & Asset Management: Monitor portfolio health continuously. Identify early warning signs of credit deterioration and, when necessary, assist in loan workouts or OREO management to maximize asset recovery and loss mitigation. Compliance: Maintain a high-level of understanding of industry regulations, compliance issues and Bank policies, including but not limited to BSA/AML, KYC, and Dodd-Frank other applicable regulatory requirements. Legal Documentation & Structuring: Lead the end-to-end closing process by reviewing and negotiating complex legal documents (e.g., Loan Agreements, Mortgages, Intercreditor Agreements, and Security Instruments). Collaborate closely with internal support staff and external counsel to ensure deal structures protect the bank's interests while meeting client needs, ensuring all documentation is accurate, enforceable, and in full compliance with approved credit terms. Community Leadership: Represent the Bank in local civic organizations and professional networks to enhance the brand's visibility and build a robust referral pipeline. Knowledge, Skills, Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or equivalent career experience. Practical knowledge of applicable laws, regulations and documentation relating to commercial lending activity. 10+ years of proven success in commercial lending, with a documented track record of meeting production targets and managing complex credit structures. Experience in analyzing financial data and risk mitigation. Ability to work in Microsoft Office/Network environment and with industry software. Ability to interact positively and tactfully with customers, coworkers and staff. Proficiency in written and verbal communications. Adhere to compliance of all applicable Federal and State Bank regulations, as well as Bank policies and procedures. Physical Demands and Condition Requirements: Standard professional office environment with flexibility for hybrid remote work per Bank policy. Frequent local travel to visit client sites, attend networking events, and conduct inspections. Equipment Used: General office equipment. Computer/laptop.
