Position Summary The Housing & Operations Specialist uses a Housing First approach to support individuals and families experiencing homelessness. They build relationships with clients living on the streets, in shelters, or other temporary housing and help them move into interim and permanent housing. The Specialist connects clients to resources for income, benefits, health care, and behavioral or mental health services to overcome barriers to housing. They also manage warehouse operations, including organizing, sorting, and preparing donated items and furniture for delivery. On delivery days, the Specialist helps load, transport, unload, and set up items in clients’ homes. Essential Job Functions are below.

Essential Job Functions

Assist clients in securing documentation and services needed for housing.

Support clients in applying for housing, completing paperwork for supportive or subsidized housing, and monitoring progress to completion.

Ensure smooth transitions to permanent housing and follow clients through services to achieve housing stability and retention.

Navigate clients to appropriate housing interventions until services are no longer needed.

Provide all services in a culturally and linguistically appropriate manner, including use of interpreters when needed.

Embrace and embody the mission, vision, guiding principles, clinical vision, and goals of WestCare Foundation.

Move, clean, and organize furniture.

Prepare and organize welcome home baskets and warehouse items.

Load, organize, and deliver furniture using a box truck, assisting with unloading and setting up in clients’ homes.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Essential Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the duties and responsibilities satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Experience and Competencies

Excellent communication, documentation, and computer skills.

Ability to multi-task and maintain confidentiality.

Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse communities.

Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain and maintain WestCare’s vehicle insurance is required.

Ability to obtain and maintain a successful background clearance.

During your tenure with WestCare there may be new requirements, including, but not limited to vaccinations that are issued by local, State, Federal, and/or Funders that WestCare may have to comply with. Should this occur Human Resources or appropriate personnel will inform you.

CPR Certification, First Aid Certification, and an annual Tuberculosis test.
