Fund Formation Senior Paralegal

Position Overview As a CGS Senior Paralegal, you will work under the direction of a Supervisory Paralegal or Project Supervisor and provide litigation and administrative support to a group of United States Attorneys. Responsibilities

Collect court‑ordered restitutions and fines of criminal and civil defendants.

Draft and file legal documents using the Electronic Court Filing system (ECF).

Prepare garnishments, liens, and other collection documents; send demand letters and subpoenas.

Retrieve and analyze assets through fact research in public and research databases.

Manage and track collection activity in an internal database; coordinate with AUSAs in the Monetary Penalties Unit (MPU).

Prepare legal documents (motions, memoranda, subpoenas, correspondence, discovery documents) using templates.

Arrange trial preparation: compile notebooks, prepare jury instructions, draft witness/exhibit lists.

Open, close, organize, and record case files; maintain calendars of active cases and assigned AUSAs.

Provide support functions such as photocopying, assembling notebooks, labeling documents, and shipping materials.

Handle incoming and outgoing mail, including packaging boxes for shipment.

Complete all aspects of travel per Federal Travel Regulations (FTR) and DOJ policies.

Skills and Attributes for Success

Strong written and oral communication.

Hands‑on familiarity with word processing, databases, spreadsheets, imaging, and hardware systems.

Basic familiarity with ESI tools and eDiscovery procedures.

Ability to deliver high‑quality work under extreme pressure.

Knowledge of standard legal citation and ability to conduct research with LEXIS and Westlaw.

Experience with automated litigation support and legal document templates.

Qualifications

Paralegal certificate, JD, or current attendance at an ABA‑accredited law school (≥1 year of study).

One year of legal training or legal experience, or at least two years of college education, may substitute for the certificate.

At least one year of litigation paralegal experience or related project experience; trial experience is very helpful.

Automated litigation support experience is valued.

Compensation $55,000 - $62,000 per year
