Senior Director of Business Development

We are a rapidly advancing mRNA-focused biotechnology company developing next-generation therapeutics across (oncology, vaccines, rare disease, etc.). As we scale our platform and pipeline, we are seeking a Senior Director of Business Development to lead strategic growth initiatives, partnerships, and capital formation efforts.

This individual will play a critical role in shaping corporate strategy, executing high-impact partnerships, and driving fundraising activities across multiple financing stages including Seed through late-stage rounds.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Business Development

  • Lead identification, evaluation, and execution of strategic partnerships including pharma collaborations, licensing deals, and platform partnerships
  • Develop and execute long-term corporate development strategy aligned with pipeline and platform expansion
  • Build and manage relationships with key stakeholders across biotech, pharma, and investment communities
  • Lead and support fundraising initiatives across Seed, Series A, B, C, D and beyond
  • Develop and refine investor materials including pitch decks, data rooms, and financial narratives
  • Partner closely with executive leadership and board to define capital strategy and financing roadmap
  • Manage investor outreach, diligence processes, and term sheet negotiations
  • Maintain ongoing relationships with venture capital firms, crossover investors, and strategic investors
  • Conduct competitive landscape analysis across mRNA and broader nucleic acid therapeutics space
  • Identify emerging trends, white space opportunities, and potential acquisition targets
  • Support corporate positioning and external messaging to investors and partners

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Collaborate with R&D, clinical, regulatory, and finance teams to align BD strategy with scientific and operational milestones
  • Support portfolio prioritization and asset-level partnering strategy
  • Interface with legal teams on deal structuring and negotiations

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (PhD, MD, MBA) strongly preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in business development, corporate development, or strategy within biotech or pharma
  • Direct experience in mRNA, RNA therapeutics, or adjacent modalities strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated track record of leading or playing a key role in fundraising across multiple stages including Seed through Series D+
  • Deep network within the biotech investment ecosystem including venture capital and institutional investors
  • Experience executing complex partnerships, licensing deals, or strategic collaborations
  • Strong financial acumen and ability to translate scientific data into compelling investment narratives
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills

Compensation

Competitive base salary, performance bonus, and equity package commensurate with experience and stage of company.
