Position Summary This Plumber is responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining plumbing systems in residential properties. It requires proactive thinking, the capability to lead projects, and ensuring that all work complies with local, state, and federal plumbing codes and regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities

Install, repair, and maintain plumbing fixtures, piping systems, and related equipment (e.g., water heaters, disposals, dishwashers, water softeners, and gas heating fixtures).

Perform general maintenance at various housing assignments, which may include landscaping, general construction, etc.

Diagnose and resolve plumbing issues, including leaks, clogs, burst pipes, and faulty valves.

Use appropriate tools and techniques to cut, thread, solder, braze, and glue pipes and fittings.

Read and interpret building plans to determine materials, installation sequence, and potential obstructions.

Assemble and install piping systems using various materials (e.g., iron, steel, copper, plastic).

Conduct pressure tests and inspections to ensure proper function and compliance with regulations.

Collaborate with other trades (e.g., HVAC) to ensure system integration and functionality.

Handle and dispose of hazardous materials in accordance with safety regulations.

Follow all safety standards and perform other related duties as assigned.

This position is eligible to participate in the collective bargaining unit (SEIU) that represents certain Southern Nevada Regional Housing Authority employees.

Minimum Qualifications Applicants should possess the following:

Education, training, and work experience :

A high school diploma or GED, supplemented by one (1) year as a licensed Journeyman plumber or 10 years progressive plumbing experience with strong working knowledge of plumbing and maintenance.

Proven experience as a plumber with a strong working knowledge of plumbing systems and maintenance.

Licenses and Certifications :

OSHA 10 Certification

A valid current Nevada Driver’s license at date of hire, or able to obtain one, and insurable under the Authority’s automobile insurance plan

SNRHA utilizes Criteria for online employment testing. Successful candidates will be invited via email to participate in the testing for further consideration in the recruitment process. Failure to participate in the testing is considered a withdrawal by the candidate.

Screening and Selection Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications may be considered for further review. Evaluation factors include, but are not limited to, a cover letter and resume, writing samples, pre-employment testing/assessments, panel interviews, references, and background investigation.
