$2B+ publicly traded organization , that is seeking a
Senior Director of Financial Reporting & Consolidations
to lead the company’s global financial reporting function and oversee the consolidation and external reporting processes. This role is a key leadership position within the corporate finance organization and will partner closely with senior leadership to ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting requirements, and evolving accounting standards.
The Senior Director will provide subject matter expertise on complex accounting matters, preparation of quarterly and annual SEC, regulatory, and compliance financial statements, oversee the consolidation of global financial results, and lead the evaluation and implementation of new accounting pronouncements. This role reports to the VP of Financial Reporting and will have regular interaction with the VP, Corporate Controller, CAO, executive leadership, external auditors, and cross-functional teams across the organization. The CAO is INCREDIBLE and is focused on building out a collaborative, positive culture that rewards mentorship, team building, and process improvement/efficiency recommendations. Hybrid schedule of three days in office per week
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the SEC financial filing process and review SEC financial filings, including annual reports on Form 10-K, quarterly reports on Form 10-Q, footnotes to the financial statements and Management Discussion and Analysis, and XBRL.
Oversee regulatory and compliance financial statements
SOX process owner for the financial reporting and consolidation process.
Review and provide feedback on internal and external communications, including board and audit committee presentations and investor relations earnings releases, scripts, and presentations.
Oversee the consolidation process, including the review of journal entries (e.g., share-based compensation, derivatives, and non-routine transactions) and coordinate with shared services to facilitate a timely close process.
Coordinate with the business to review monthly and quarterly flux analyses
Implement best practices regarding the consolidation close process.
Ensure the ongoing integrity and accuracy of financial reporting systems
Prepare technical memos for accounting matters (e.g. debt refinancing, share-based compensation, discontinued operations etc.) and oversee annual goodwill impairment testing.
Work with internal stakeholders to review significant contracts and arrangements and ad-hoc transactions, as requested, to determine appropriate accounting under US GAAP and coordinate with internal teams on accounting.
Proactively monitor current FASB and SEC activities and evaluate the impact of adopting new accounting standards.
Work with independent auditor to ensure the timely completion of quarterly reviews and annual audits.
Review accounting policies and procedures that ensure the highest level of operational efficiency for business units, while maintaining appropriate internal controls and compliance with US GAAP.
Work as part of cross-functional teams to execute various special projects and transactions and preparation of ad hoc financial reporting.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
required; Master’s degree preferred.
CPA certification required.
10+ years of progressive accounting experience , including a strong foundation in
public accounting
(Big 4 or large national firm preferred).
Experience with
technical accounting, consolidations, and SEC reporting
within a publicly traded company.
Deep knowledge of
U.S. GAAP, SEC regulations, and financial reporting requirements .
Proven ability to research complex accounting topics and prepare technical accounting documentation.
Experience managing teams and leading cross-functional initiatives.
Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to interact effectively with senior executives.
Experience with
consolidation systems and ERP platforms
preferred.
