About the Role
We’re looking for a Survey Manager that will play a critical leadership role in delivering safe, accurate, and efficient survey operations across RNGD projects. This position leads field survey activities, ensures compliance with contractual and technical requirements, and supports the implementation of design and construction models. The role blends field leadership with office-based technical work, including calculations, CAD modeling, and data management. Surveying responsibilities span Heavy Civil Infrastructure, Public Works, Industrial Projects, and Mission-Critical Facilities, serving as a vital bridge between design intent and field execution. Core Responsibilities
Project Coordination and Planning
Coordinate job setup and implement project-specific survey plans, including scheduling, documentation, and workflow planning. Oversee daily field survey operations and conduct periodic audits of survey procedures, records, and deliverables to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance. Collaborate with project teams to align survey activities with construction schedules and project milestones.
Control, Modeling, and Layout
Establish and maintain precise horizontal and vertical control networks using traverse, level loops, and GNSS calibration methods. Build, manage, and maintain IFC models to support machine control systems and field layout activities. Execute and oversee construction layout for all phases of work, ensuring alignment with design specifications and project requirements. Perform detailed quantity takeoffs to verify preconstruction estimates and provide accurate quantities of completed work for progress tracking and cost control.
Data Capture Management and Documentation
Capture and deliver accurate as-built data and topographic information throughout the project lifecycle using terrestrial scanning, imaging, aerial survey techniques, and traditional ground-based methods. Maintain meticulous documentation of survey processes, files, and calculations. Ensure secure data backups and generate detailed reports using approved survey and CAD software platforms.
Quality Assurance
Review and verify calculations with senior survey personnel prior to issuing layout to the field. Set up, monitor, and maintain GNSS grade control systems across all project phases to support precise machine guidance. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to interpret technical drawings and resolve layout challenges. Deliver timely, high-accuracy survey data to support construction milestones and quality standards. Troubleshoot technical challenges and adapt surveying methods to evolving site conditions to minimize delays and rework.
Leadership and Development
Mentor and guide survey team members and subcontractors, reinforcing expectations around safety, quality, and professionalism. Promote a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and technical excellence. Maintain a professional appearance, positive attitude, and strong field presence.
Preferred Qualifications
5+ years of progressive experience in construction surveying, with leadership or supervisory responsibility. Experience across heavy civil, public works, industrial, or mission-critical construction projects. Strong working knowledge of GNSS systems, robotic total stations, terrestrial scanning, and survey control methods. Proficiency in Trimble Business Center, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and related survey/CAD platforms. Ability to read, interpret, and apply construction drawings, specifications, and models. Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between project sites as required. Core Competencies
