The Spartan Experience Record team is looking to fill the Social Media Coordinator role for the 2026-2027 academic year, with an anticipated start date of August 20, 2026.

The Spartan Experience Record Social Media Coordinator (SMC) is a student leader who has a passion to work with their peers and the overall MSU community. The Social Media Coordinator will be trained to understand the full scope of the Spartan Experience Record and then tasked with educating others about the SER. The SMC will capture involvement at different events such as peer trainings, tabling at events, and will be responsible for social media engagement. The SMC will contribute to media creation for websites, presentations, and social media, often using Canva software. The SMC can expect to grow skillsets, such as networking, implementing new technology, and teamwork, while also being able to impact not only their own MSU experience but the engagement of the MSU student population. The SMC is likely to engage with the following technologies or platforms: Instagram, X, Facebook, Hootsuite, and Canva.

The Social Media Coordinator will:

Create/maintain a social media strategy to increase awareness, involvement, and overall marketing of the Spartan Experience Record.

Develop and implement social media content.

Manage any direct messages received over social media.

Develop new relationships with other social media accounts to grow followers

Assist in developing and implementing marketing plans, concepts, and strategies.

Create and develop other forms of media for student, faculty, and staff engagement (videos, print, other forms of media).

Engage with students, in-person and through emails, to gather student features and record reels.

Stay up to date with current social media trends and technologies.

Be able to attend and represent the Spartan Experience Record at key campus events, such as Sparticipation and Spartan Remix.

Frequently assist with events and/or operations.

Assist in coverage of the front desk for the Academic Initiatives office located in the STEM building and work collaboratively with office units.

Work effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering the Spartan Experience Record mission.

Perform all other tasks assigned.

Required Qualifications:

Enrolled as a student at Michigan State University (during academic year)

Experience living and being involved on MSU campus

Demonstrated commitment to outstanding customer service

Great communication skills (written and verbal)

Positive and respectful, especially when working with a diverse population

Able to work in-person shifts at the STEM Teaching and Learning building and, occasionally, other locations on the MSU campus
