
UX Strategist (Contract) - North America

Overview
We are seeking a highly analytical, strategic, and commercially-minded UX Strategist to lead data-driven optimization initiatives across a portfolio of eCommerce clients.
This role goes beyond traditional UX research. The UX Strategist is responsible for translating complex performance data into clear, prioritized optimization roadmaps that drive measurable business impact.
You will operate at the intersection of data analysis, measurement strategy, experimentation, and business consulting—leveraging platforms like Google Analytics (GA4), Shopify, and testing tools to uncover opportunities, define hypotheses, and guide cross-functional teams in execution.
This role includes ownership of both insight generation and measurement strategy, ensuring that data collection, reporting, and experimentation are aligned to drive business outcomes.

Connect onsite behavior → business outcomes
Identify high-impact opportunities across the funnel
Drive experimentation programs tied to revenue, LTV, and retention
Confidently advise clients and stakeholders on what to prioritize and why
Responsibilities 1. Data-Driven Opportunity Identification
Analyze onsite performance data (GA4, Shopify, heatmaps, etc.) to identify friction points, drop-offs, and growth opportunities across the customer journey
Connect user behavior to business KPIs (CVR, AOV, LTV, churn, retention, etc.)
Synthesize large datasets into clear insights that inform strategic direction
2. Strategic Roadmap Development
Translate insights into prioritized optimization roadmaps aligned with client business goals
Evaluate opportunities using structured prioritization frameworks (impact, effort, confidence)
Balance short-term wins with long-term strategic initiatives
3. Experimentation Leadership
Own and drive A/B testing programs across multiple clients
Define hypotheses rooted in data and behavioral insights
Partner with design and development teams to execute experiments
Analyze results and scale winning solutions across the experience
4. Measurement Strategy, Funnel Analysis & Reporting
Define and evolve measurement frameworks, including custom events, funnel tracking, and KPI structures within GA4 and Shopify
Build and analyze end-to-end conversion funnels (landing → PDP → cart → checkout → purchase → retention)
Identify tracking gaps and partner with engineering/data teams to implement robust event instrumentation
Develop clear, insight-driven reporting that translates performance into actionable recommendations
Own the performance narrative—connecting what is happening → why → what to do next
Create and maintain dashboards (GA4, Looker, etc.) to monitor ongoing performance and experiment impact
5. Client Strategy & Advisory
Serve as a strategic partner to clients, guiding optimization decisions with clarity and confidence
Present insights, performance narratives, and recommendations in a compelling, business-focused way
Bridge the gap between data, UX, and business strategy
6. Cross-Functional Execution
Collaborate with UX designers, UI developers, and project managers to bring recommendations to life
Ensure strategic intent is maintained through design and development execution
Drive alignment across teams to deliver high-quality outcomes
7. Performance Measurement & Continuous Optimization
Define and evolve KPIs and measurement frameworks aligned to business outcomes (revenue, LTV, retention)
Track performance of optimization initiatives and iterate based on results
Establish scalable processes for continuous optimization across accounts
Requirements
Experience & Expertise
5–8+ years of experience in UX, CRO, Product Analytics, or Digital Strategy roles
Proven track record of driving measurable business impact through data-driven optimization
Deep expertise in:
Google Analytics (GA4)
Shopify analytics & reporting
A/B testing platforms (e.g. Optimizely, Convert, Shoplift, VWO, Intelligems, etc.)
Data & Measurement Expertise
Strong experience with GA4 event architecture, including custom event design, funnel setup, and debugging tracking issues
Experience analyzing multi-step conversion funnels and user journeys to identify drop-offs and opportunities
Ability to translate raw data into clear reporting and executive-level insights
Analytical & Strategic Thinking
Strong quantitative skillset with the ability to interpret complex datasets
Ability to connect user behavior with business performance and financial outcomes
Experience building and prioritizing optimization roadmaps
Experimentation & CRO
Hands-on experience designing, executing, and analyzing A/B tests
Strong understanding of experimentation frameworks and statistical significance
Ability to scale experimentation programs across multiple initiatives
Client-Facing & Communication Skills
Experience working directly with clients or stakeholders in a consultative capacity
Exceptional storytelling ability—translating data into clear, actionable narratives
Confidence presenting to senior stakeholders and influencing decision-making
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Experience working with design, development, and product teams
Ability to drive execution without direct authority
Strong ownership, organization, and accountability
Nice to Have
Experience in eCommerce, subscription models, or DTC brands
Familiarity with tools like Hotjar, FullStory, Elevar, Looker, or BigQuery
Background in UX design or product strategy
