Heffernan Walton Insurance is looking for an experienced Commercial Lines Account Manager. The primary function of this position is to provide exceptional service to existing clients, pursue new business opportunities for current clients (rounding out accounts), and pursue new prospective clients as opportunities arise.

The Commercial Account Manager will be the day‑to‑day liaison between the insurance company, agency, and its insureds. Daily client servicing will include addressing various coverage issues and handling all internal service work associated with the client's account. This includes all endorsement activity, routine coverage questions, problem solving, renewals, checking, and binding of policies. New business fulfillment for current clients & new prospective clients as opportunities arise. Includes securing underwriting information, marketing account to key carriers, and consultation with the prospect insured to secure the bound policy.

Responsibilities include:

Build and maintain relationships with clients and the team.

Provide consistent, accurate, and timely communication through verbal and electronic correspondence.

Process daily incoming email and phone requests, responding promptly and appropriately.

Development of new business and renewal strategies – including preparing specifications and submission material for marketing, securing underwriting information, and analyzing existing coverage, as well as making recommendations to clients.

Awareness and in‑depth knowledge of the current marketplace for account placement, including coverage enhancements, price negotiation, forms, policy terms, etc.

Assist clients in making appropriate coverage changes; inform and educate clients about coverage, exclusions, exposures, and audits, and document electronic file accordingly.

Order and issue binders, evidence of insurance, policies, endorsements, and other related items; verify their accuracy; forward them to the client with appropriate correspondence.

Partner with support service provider PATRA to issue certificates of insurance as needed.

Performs review and audits of policies; verifies accuracy and facilitates corrections, as needed, between client and carrier.

Handle cancellations with care and take steps to save accounts (if applicable).

Renew and re‑market accounts as needed in conjunction with agency standards.

Maintain client files in the agency management system and use the AMS to process all transactions.

Maintain client files accurately and consistently, documenting conversations, sending confirmations to clients, and adhering to all other automation procedures. Must update the AMS accordingly using the provided guidelines.

Provide technical support to Affiliates and insureds (coverage‑wise, with proposal, suspense, items, etc.) to help clients.

Determines whether to use agency billing or direct billing, and invoices accordingly. If an agency bill account requires financing, partner with the preferred vendor, First Finance.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum of 5 years of prior insurance experience.

Current P&C Brokers license.

CIC Designation or advanced designation preferred.

Proficiency in insurance coverages with a strong working knowledge of complex issues and markets.

Proficient in MS Office skills, particularly with Outlook, Excel, Zoom, and Agency Management System (EPIC preferred).

Excellent interpersonal communication skills, verbal and written.

Well organized multi‑tasker. Ability to prioritize and self‑manage workload. Detail‑oriented.

Compensation: The base salary range for this position is

$70,000.00 to $85,000.00 . The offer will depend on the geographic region, job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other factors.

This role will be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program .

Working Conditions:

Work environment is indoors, sitting at a desk or standing for extended periods of time.

Daily use of computers, keyboard, mouse, headset, printers, and other commonly used office equipment.

This position may require flexibility to work hours outside of a regular schedule.
