Omni Austin Hotel Downtown is seeking dynamic leader to join our team as Director of Catering and Convention Services. Success in this position will come by ensuring a consistent product to standards, while maximizing profitability and protecting the integrity of the guest experience. Ensures that all policies, procedures, and guidelines are followed by department personnel. Provides the necessary training, motivation, and leadership for all department personnel. Responsible for the department’s service scores, as measured by meeting planner surveys. Responsible for all administrative duties which are necessary in the functioning of the department. Tours, daily, the hotel function space and spot checks meeting room setups. Ensures that all function space in the hotel is well presented and maintains a scheduled cleaning program for each function room. Ensures that all equipment used in the department is in good order, and uses preventive maintenance schedules for all equipment. Reviews, daily, client feedback and takes appropriate follow up actions. Responsible for accurately forecasting revenues monthly. Anticipates needs, forecasts results, and analyzes work processes for personnel in the department. Ensures catering sales meets budgeted levels. Forecasts public room income and meeting covers on an annual/quarterly/monthly basis. Ensures that all departments meet all federal, state, and local regulations affecting the hotel, Food & Beverage operation, its associates and guests. Participates in the final interview process and is responsible for hiring all departmental personnel. Creates and maintains a good working relationship with the Banquet team to ensure an elite level of client services. Ensures a smooth flow of communication from Sales to Banquet Services and the Food & Beverage departments. Advises hotel department heads of special requirements of groups coming into the hotel. Maintains rapport with outside purveyors, who provide services for the hotel and its guests through the Catering & Conference Services Department. Establishes a rapport with individuals in similar positions at other hotels. Responsible for working with event planners in coordinating the final details for events, and with the catering contacts for catering events. Conducts weekly department meetings. Attends revenue, BEO, pickup and resume meetings. Manages department payroll on a weekly basis. Performs any other duties assigned by management. Qualifications: 5+ years of upscale urban hotel catering and/or conference services experience preferred. 3+ years of department head experience in an upscale hotel preferred. High school diploma or equivalent required, Bachelor’s degree preferred. Must have the ability to delegate, effectively train and coach a team with diverse talents. Must have proven selling, negotiating and presentation skills. Must have highly developed customer service skills with strong attention to detail. Proficient computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook. Delphi experience preferred.
