Advancement Coordinator (Fundraising & Communications)

Healing Action Network, Des Moines, IA, United States

Healing Action Network, a St. Louis-based nonprofit dedicated to supporting survivors of human trafficking and mitigating exploitation through community education, is seeking a highly organized professional looking for a launchpad into nonprofit leadership. If you thrive in an environment of organized chaos, possess a relentless eagerness to learn, and want the opportunity to be mentored in every facet of nonprofit development, including grant writing, donor stewardship, communications, and executive project management, this is your opportunity.

Key Responsibilities:

Departmental Operations & Strategy:

Act as the right hand to the Advancement Director. Manage high-level administrative tasks, coordinate complex schedules, and ensure the fundraising department runs efficiently.

Young Professionals Leadership:

Spearhead the launch and ongoing management of our new Young Professionals Board, harnessing the energy of emerging community leaders to drive engagement, networking, and fundraising events.

Development & Communications:

Collaborate directly with the Advancement Director to draft compelling grant proposals, design social media content frameworks, and execute donor stewardship workflows using CRM databases.

Event & Project Management:

Take a leading role in the logistics and execution of special events, shifting seamlessly from high-level strategy to on-the-ground troubleshooting.

The Ideal Candidate:

You are a scrappy, proactive problem-solver who doesn’t wait to be told what to do next.

You are a sponge for knowledge. You might not know how to write a federal grant or build a donor automation workflow, but you have the drive, raw writing talent, and digital literacy to learn it quickly.

You possess a high degree of emotional intelligence, capable of building relationships with everyone from corporate donors to community partners.

You are highly adaptable and comfortable pivoting priorities in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.

Bonus Points If You Have Familiarity With (or a strong desire to learn):

Donor CRM platforms (e.g., Givebutter, DonorPerfect)

Digital marketing and design tools (e.g., Canva, social media schedulers)

Why This Role? This is a mentorship-heavy position designed for rapid professional growth. You will be exposed to the inner workings of organizational strategy, capacity building, and fund development, equipping you with the skills to confidently take on advanced leadership roles within the nonprofit sector.
