Music Director

The Music Director will work with the clergy, assistant music directors, parish & school staff and parishioners to support sung prayer to include Masses and a variety of other liturgical services. The Music Director will be directly responsible for the Schola Cantorum and Bell choirs.

Key responsibilities

Program/approve music for all Masses and liturgical services through collaboration with assistant music directors and appropriate clergy & staff and as appropriate for the liturgical season

Manage cantors, accompanist schedules for regular Masses, weddings, funerals and other special events

Assist with wedding and funeral music planning

College Degree, preferably in music/music discipline

3- 5 years of related work experience in the area of music direction, management

Basic keyboard skills

Employment is contingent upon applicant satisfactorily passing criminal background and reference checks

Must complete diocese-sponsored Safe Environment Training within 30 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

Ability to play piano in support of choir

Ability to play organ

Supervises Assistant Music Directors (Children’s, Hispanic Music, Celebration Singers), paid accompanists/musicians, volunteers (cantors)
