About the Role Turner Staffing Group is seeking a Mechanical / Piping Designer to support plant engineering and design activities for a power generation client based in Tempe, Arizona . This role will focus on mechanical and piping system design for generating facility upgrades , including piping layouts, system details, and engineering drawing development. The ideal candidate will have experience working with plant design drawings, Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), and MicroStation CAD software , along with the ability to support field research, estimating, and project documentation. Key Responsibilities Design or assist with the design of mechanical and piping system upgrades for power generation facilities Develop piping layouts, piping details, hanger assemblies, and plant arrangement drawings Create and update Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) Support retrofit and upgrade projects for existing generating facilities Perform field research and site visits to gather information required for design and estimating activities Prepare complete design packages , including engineering drawings and bills of materials Assist in the development and documentation of design standards and procedures Coordinate with engineers, project team members, and construction personnel to support project execution Communicate with manufacturers, vendors, and external stakeholders regarding project requirements and equipment specifications Interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation to support project development Answer questions related to field installation and design intent when required Required Qualifications Experience in mechanical and piping design for industrial or power generation facilities Proficiency with Bentley Systems MicroStation CAD software (latest version preferred) Strong understanding of piping layouts, piping systems, and P&ID development Ability to develop detailed engineering drawings and plant layouts from field notes, sketches, or engineering concepts Ability to read and interpret engineering and construction drawings Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously Effective verbal and written communication skills Experience using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel) Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting power generation or industrial plant environments Familiarity with civil and structural drawings related to plant design Experience supporting facility retrofit or modernization projects Experience participating in field walkdowns and project estimating Work Environment Office-based design work in Tempe, AZ Periodic travel to regional generating stations for field verification and project support Occasional use of company vehicle for project site visits #J-18808-Ljbffr
