Overview
WLOS/My40TV in Asheville, NC has an immediate opening for a creative Digital Content Producer. The role involves writing and producing news content for the web and social media, ensuring digital platforms are up‑to‑date, accurate, and compelling. Candidates should bring excellent writing skills, news judgment, a competitive spirit, and strong digital analytics skills to guide story placement. The producer will also teach on‑air reporters to improve their digital skills.
Responsibilities
• Day‑to‑day digital news content production
• Collaboration with news managers and the Digital Executive Producer
• Ensuring all digital platforms are current and engaging
• Identifying and posting timely content
• Monitoring competitive social practices
• Teaching and mentoring reporters on digital tools
Qualifications
Solid news judgment and the ability to write fast, accurate, mistake‑free copy
Strong analytics skills to guide story placement on digital platforms
Experience working in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment
Strong leadership and communication skills
Execution of news strategies and goals in daily newscasts
Flexibility and on‑the‑spot problem‑solving abilities
Previous news‑producing experience at a commercial TV station preferred (entry‑level candidates may be considered)
Journalism degree preferred (Bachelor's degree in a related field also acceptable)
Knowledge or willingness to learn social media content creation for Facebook, Instagram, X, and YouTube
Self‑starter with a drive to chase stories, including reaching out to authorities or other sources
Collaborative spirit who works well with a team to achieve department goals
Seeks out story ideas, including follow‑ups to previous reports or previews of upcoming events
Excellent communicator and team player who shares important information with co‑workers in a clear and timely manner
Monitors news emails for new releases, relevant information, and updates to stories and events, sharing or filing that information as needed
