Embarcadero Media Foundation, the Peninsula’s leading media company, seeks an experienced, hands‑on, adaptable Email Marketing and Analytics Specialist to join our marketing team.
Under the guidance of the Director of Marketing and Audience Development , you will oversee all aspects of email marketing campaigns, including copywriting and editing, to convey the appropriate brand tone of voice. You will use your mastery of email marketing tools to influence email design, manage audiences, collaborate with coworkers across departments, and apply your understanding of email marketing best practices and strategies to increase performance.
The Email Marketing and Analytics Specialist helps manage and improve Embarcadero Media Foundation's core reports to glean actionable insights and share reporting and findings across teams. This role will identify opportunities for improvement and apply best practices, employ campaign testing, and experimentation to drive engagement.
In addition to email marketing and analytics, you will support the marketing team to plan and execute our heritage events. Our annual events include community‑building events, member events, and journalism events. Activities include project management, planning, coordinating, email correspondence, and administrative support to grow and engage audiences.
Occasional night and weekend attendance at virtual and in‑person community meetings and events is required. The Email Marketing and Analytics Specialist is currently designed as a hybrid role.
The ideal candidate
is a Mailchimp expert: at least two years of experience working in Mailchimp
holds a deep desire to connect with our local communities through the written word and has excellent written and verbal communication skills
is thorough and detail‑oriented, finding even the smallest typos to deliver first‑class emails
understands email and marketing KPIs and how to optimize for best performance
can use automation and AI to their advantage
is a team player
works across teams and proactively communicates to move projects forward
relies on his/her resourcefulness to get the job done but also knows when to elevate questions/issues
knows multiple facets of marketing, including content creation, copywriting, data analytics, email, and social media
is quickly able to learn on the fly, i.e., learning how to use new marketing tools
bonus if you have experience working in Google Analytics
feels comfortable using digital media and social networking tools
is data‑focused and can present analytics, insights, and campaign post‑mortems
Requirements
Specific responsibilities are subject to change as priorities and needs are modified, but the following summarizes the general scope of the position:
works with the Director of Marketing and Audience Development , through the research, planning, creation, and execution phases of email marketing newsletters and campaigns for a portfolio of seven local news and lifestyle brands (print and digital)
support membership growth and retention marketing strategies to build reader revenue
writes copy for email, website, social media, and marketing materials
helps plan and execute live and virtual events, including the use of tools such as Zoom or Facebook Live
support/coordinate corporate and member/reader events
monitor and report on digital campaign performance and analytics
regularly update resources for the role, including how‑to guides, playbooks and tutorials
other duties as assigned

Education:
Bachelor's degree, with a Marketing or Communication major is preferred
