Overview Charleston Battery | Charleston, SC The Charleston Battery are seeking a data-driven marketing leader to drive ticket revenue, fan growth, and digital demand for one of the most historic clubs in American soccer. This role will oversee the club’s performance marketing and digital demand strategy, with a focus on paid media, email marketing, lifecycle marketing, and marketing analytics that convert fans into ticket buyers. Depending on experience, the position may be hired at the Marketing Manager or Director level . This role sits at the intersection of sports, growth marketing, and fan engagement , leading the digital marketing engine that drives attendance, merchandise sales, and long-term fan loyalty. The ideal candidate is comfortable managing digital campaigns, interpreting performance data, and collaborating with internal teams and external partners to execute high-impact marketing initiatives. Role Overview The Marketing Manager / Director will lead the Charleston Battery’s performance marketing and fan growth strategy, managing digital advertising, email and SMS marketing, campaign planning, and marketing analytics. This role is goal-oriented and responsible for driving measurable results, including ticket sales, matchday attendance, and revenue growth through marketing campaigns. The position plays a critical role in growing the club’s fan base and digital audience through strategic marketing campaigns and data-driven optimization. The role works cross-functionally with ticket sales, partnerships, communications, and merchandise teams to bring integrated marketing campaigns to life across digital, social, email, and stadium platforms. The position also works closely with the club’s external branding and marketing agency and requires someone who can critically evaluate agency strategy, challenge assumptions when needed, validate campaign performance, and ensure marketing initiatives are delivering measurable results. The ideal candidate is comfortable stepping into an active season and quickly evaluating existing campaigns, platforms, and agency strategy. Responsibilities Performance Marketing & Paid Media Lead The Club’s Paid Media Strategy Across: Meta (Facebook / Instagram) Google Search and YouTube TikTok Connected TV (CTV) Digital out-of-home (billboards) Planning match-by-match digital campaigns to drive ticket sales Manage and optimize the club’s annual digital marketing budget across paid media channels Managing budgets and optimizing performance (ROAS, CPA, conversions) Building audiences and retargeting funnels Launching creative tests and campaign optimizations Working with content team to develop high-performing ad creative Collaborating with external agency partners while maintaining strong internal ownership of performance marketing strategy and results Email & Lifecycle Marketing Oversee the club’s email and SMS marketing strategy to drive revenue and fan engagement Manage campaigns and automated flows using Klaviyo Segment audiences and build lifecycle marketing journeys Develop win-back and retention strategies Analyze performance including revenue attribution, engagement, and conversion Email is a major revenue channel for the organization and plays a key role in ticket sales and fan retention. Campaign Strategy & Match Marketing Lead the marketing strategy for Charleston Battery home matches and key initiatives including: Ticket promotions Season launches and playoffs Special events and theme nights Merchandise launches Community and supporter initiatives Building integrated campaign plans Aligning messaging across paid media, email, social, and stadium Coordinating with communications and content teams on campaign assets Analytics & Marketing Performance Use data to drive decisions and continuously improve marketing performance. Monitor campaign performance and marketing ROI Analyze ticket sales trends and demand curves Track performance using tools such as Google Analytics, ad platforms, and CRM data Provide insights and reporting to leadership Validate marketing performance across agency-managed and internally managed campaigns Own marketing performance metrics tied to ticket sales, including campaign ROI, conversion rates, and demand generation for home matches This role requires someone comfortable using data to guide marketing decisions. Cross-Department Collaboration Work Closely With Multiple Departments/teams Across The Club: Ticket Sales – drive demand generation and promotional campaigns Partnerships – support sponsor activations and promotions Communications & Content – develop campaign assets and storytelling Merchandise / Operations – support product launches and ecommerce promotions Qualifications Required 4–8+ years of experience in digital marketing, growth marketing, or performance marketing Strong experience managing paid social campaigns in Meta Ads Manager, including campaign structure, audience targeting, and performance optimization Experience managing digital advertising budgets and performance optimization Experience with email marketing platforms (Klaviyo, HubSpot, Mailchimp, etc.) Analytical mindset with ability to interpret marketing performance data Experience managing marketing campaigns tied to measurable revenue or conversion goals Strong organizational and project management skills Ability to work in a fast-paced sports environment Availability to work ALL Charleston Battery home matches and key club events Preferred Experience in sports, entertainment, live events, or ticketed experiences Experience with platforms and tools such as: Google Ads / YouTube Ads Klaviyo Google Analytics (GA4) Ticketing platforms such as SeatGeek Shopify or ecommerce platforms Project management tools such as Asana Experience managing integrated marketing campaigns What Makes This Role Unique This role sits at the center of the Charleston Battery’s fan growth strategy and offers the opportunity to: Lead digital marketing for a historic professional soccer club Drive real revenue impact through marketing campaigns Work in a fast-growing soccer market ahead of World Cup 2026 Help shape the future of the club’s marketing strategy Location Charleston, South Carolina Full-time, in-person #J-18808-Ljbffr
