Job Purpose The Social Media Intern supports the Brand and Marketing team by assisting with content brainstorming, content creation, scheduling, light analytics, and storytelling across social media platforms. This internship provides hands‑on experience in digital communications while helping amplify programs and stories that serve Hawaii’s youth, families, and communities. Learning Objectives Develop foundational skills in social media content creation, planning, scheduling, and analytics Strengthen written and visual communication skills through real‑world projects Gain exposure to brand management and audience engagement within a mission‑driven organization Learn how analytics and performance insights inform content decisions Build confidence working collaboratively within a professional communications team setting Assist with brainstorming, creating, and organizing social media content (captions, reels, images) Support the scheduling and publishing of posts across Liliʻuokalani Trust’s social media platforms Help document events, programs, and activities through videos and photos Conduct basic research on social media trends or content ideas that resonate with kamaliʻi (beneficiaries) Compile monthly social media performance reports Organize digital assets and upload them into the Digital Asset Management System Shadow teammates to learn workflows, tools, and approval processes Participate in team meetings and share ideas, observations, and learnings Other Duties Adhere to internship program guidelines and support department needs as assigned. Complete a variety of tasks that provide broad exposure to departmental workflows. Actively build new skills, strengthen existing abilities, and apply learning to real‑world projects and responsibilities. Qualifications Demonstrated interest in social media, marketing, communications, or storytelling Desire to learn and contribute to Liliʻuokalani Trust’s mission and values Willingness to collaborate, ask questions, and take initiative Strong written communication skills and attention to detail Basic comfort with computers and common software (e.g., Mac, Email, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel) Familiarity with social media platforms (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube) is helpful but not required Work Schedule & Location Estimated timeframe: June–July 2026 Weekly schedule: 35–40 hours per week Location: On‑site / Liliʻuonamoku 1100 Alakea St. Honolulu, HI 96813 and some travel to Kīpuka’s/our various locations Content Creation & Storytelling: Ability to craft clear, engaging, and audience‑appropriate social media content that supports organizational goals Digital Literacy: Demonstrates comfort using social media platforms, content creation and editing tools, and basic math Time Management: Effectively manages multiple tasks, deadlines, and content schedules with guidance Brand Awareness: Applies brand voice, standards, and cultural awareness consistently across content Professional Communication: Seeks clarification when needed, responds to feedback constructively, and communicates progress clearly Initiative & Accountability: Takes ownership of assigned projects and follows through on commitments Alignment with Queen’s legacy: Understanding and appreciation of Queen Liliʻuokalani’s story, her legacy, and the Hawaiian culture is foundational to staff’s commitment to working with our Hawaiian children, families, and communities.
