Position Summary The Strategic Key Account Manager (SAM) is responsible for developing, managing, and growing long-term relationships with major accounts in the material handling & ground support equipment (GSE) industry. This role focuses on driving revenue growth, ensuring customer satisfaction, and aligning customer needs with our connector solutions for applications in automation, robotics, logistics systems, and other material handling/GSE environments. The SAM will serve as the primary liaison between the customer and internal teams, ensuring the successful execution of sales strategies, technical support, and global coordination. Responsibilities Develop and execute account strategies to achieve sales, profit, and market share goals with assigned strategic accounts in the material handling/GSE segment. Build strong, trusted relationships with key decision-makers, influencers, and stakeholders across engineering, procurement, and leadership levels. Identify growth opportunities by understanding customer applications, market trends, and emerging technology in material handling/GSE automation and power interconnect solutions. Lead contract negotiations, pricing agreements, and long-term supply arrangements in alignment with company objectives. Coordinate globally with regional sales managers, product management, and engineering teams to deliver consistent customer support. Manage the opportunity pipeline, forecast sales accurately, and deliver against revenue targets. Drive new product introductions and adoption by understanding customer roadmaps and aligning with our product development strategy. Collaborate with marketing and product teams to develop tailored solutions, presentations, and proposals. Monitor competitor activity and market trends to proactively address risks and opportunities. Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through ongoing communication, service, and issue resolution. Contribute to the development of strategic and annual business plans, focusing on material handling and related key segments. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or related field (MBA preferred). 5+ years of experience in key account management, strategic sales, or business development within the electrical connector, components, or material handling/GSE automation industries. Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of material handling/GSE segments (e.g., robotics, conveyors, tugs, automated storage and retrieval systems, AGVs, warehouse automation). Proven track record of managing multi-million-dollar accounts with global reach. Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills. Ability to articulate APP’s value proposition effectively to technical & executive level decision makers while managing complex customer requirements. Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify growth opportunities and mitigate risks. Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 50% to engage with customers and drive sales. The expected annual salary for this position is between $108,120.00 and $145,696.00 and will be eligible for incentive pay. This range represents a good faith estimate for the position and actual compensation will be based on numerous factors including knowledge, location, skills, training and experience.
