Community Connections Marketing & Community Engagement VISTA

Overview Community Connections is a non‑profit organization in Arkansas dedicated to providing quality extra‑curricular activities for children with special needs and support for their families. This project will allow Community Connections to expand programs to impact more children with intellectual and developmental disabilities, specifically from low‑income households around the state of Arkansas. We serve over 1200 kids with intellectual and developmental disabilities in 13 Arkansas counties. Children with disabilities from impoverished households are at a double disadvantage‑they have physical or intellectual impairments, but their caregivers, because of poverty, often lack education and resources to provide them healthy futures. Community Connections free extra‑curricular activities make a huge impact and this service project will allow us to grow capacity and serve additional children in 2026. Member Duties The Marketing and Grant Writing VISTA will build the organization’s capacity to expand our free sports and arts programs to more low‑income families raising kids with special needs by researching and applying for new grants opportunities and potential funding sources. They will also design a social media and community event and outreach plan to expand our programs to new families raising kids with special needs who could benefit.
