Scholarship Position Description
This position is awarded a scholarship for 2026-2027. All scholarships are determined by position, time commitment, responsibility, and financial budget determined in April. Expectations
ATTENTION: This position requires a significant time commitment. If you are chosen and accept this position, it will be expected that you can satisfactorily meet the time commitment necessary. This means that you agree to not accept other positions outside of Student Media or otherwise make commitments that will impact your ability to meet these expectations.
Strategic Vision & Leadership
Develop and communicate the overall strategic vision for the platform’s marketing and brand presence.
Determine strategy for marketing communications, including email marketing, events marketing, social media marketing, SEO, and outreach opportunities.
Set the tone and style for the brand through graphic design and artwork.
Lead planning and execution of relevant events and in-person marketing opportunities.
Ensure all graphic design and social media content meets the standards set by the leadership team.
Team Management
Oversee the work of a team of social media contributors, designers, and other marketing contributors alongside the K-UTE Director.
Oversee publication of social media content and ensure it is completed by deadline.
Manage TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and any other social media accounts, including regularly engaging with audiences, sharing stories and comments, and answering DMs.
Along with Platform Manager, evaluate analytics for all social media platforms.
Assist the K-UTE Director with the recruitment, interviewing, training, and onboarding of new interns, including training on appropriate platforms and tools.
Team Communication
Communicate platform updates, deadlines, and announcements to all team members via Slack and Gmail.
Communicate UteCast updates and announcements to all team members.
Foster a positive and inclusive platform culture.
Represent the platform at all UteCast meetings, events, trainings, and other mandatory commitments.
Communicate all needs and concerns with the K-UTE Director.
Collaborate and meet regularly with equivalent team leads in other UteCast platforms.
Evaluation
Meet with the K-UTE Director regularly to evaluate the platform’s progress.
Qualifications
Prior leadership and/or management experience preferred.
Preference given to applicants with prior experience in K-UTE or Student Media.
Must be able to commit to the demanding schedule and maintain high levels of activity and quality of work.
Previous work and/or education and training in social media content management, audience engagement, marketing, or a similar field preferred.
Proficient knowledge of social media platforms required.
Must be enrolled student progressing satisfactorily toward a degree.
Major or minor in communication, marketing, or a similar field preferred.
