Our Network office is located at 401 W. 218th St., New York, NY 10034. Our Network team follows a hybrid work schedule: we work in‑person from our office on Tuesdays and Thursdays with optional remote days on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, if your team's scope of work permits.

Senior Writer & Content Strategist
This individual contributor role reports to the Managing Director of Engagement & Impact and will focus primarily on written content production (approximately 70%) with strategic messaging support (approximately 30%). The position requires a bachelor’s degree (preferably in English, Communications, Journalism, Public Policy, or a related field) and at least 7–10 years of professional writing experience with a demonstrated record of consistently producing high‑quality written content in fast‑paced, mission‑driven environments.

Ideal Candidate

Exceptional writing and editing skills across both long‑form and short‑form formats, with a portfolio that reflects clarity, structure, and audience awareness

A proven track record of shipping high‑quality written work on tight timelines

Experience ghostwriting for senior leaders or executives

Strong organizational habits and the ability to independently manage deadlines and competing priorities

Comfort balancing strategic thinking with disciplined execution

A growth mindset and willingness to continuously refine craft in response to feedback

Experience in K–12 education or charter schools is a plus, but not required

Responsibilities

Lead the drafting and refinement of high‑volume family‑facing communications, including emails, recurring parent communications, website content, enrollment materials, and informational resources

Translate complex operational or academic updates into clear, accessible, and love‑driven messaging that builds family trust and strengthens belonging

Draft internal communications for Network and School teams, ensuring clarity, alignment, and disciplined adherence to stakeholder communication sequencing

Ghostwrite thought leadership pieces, speeches, and public‑facing content in the voice of the CEO and other senior leaders, demonstrating strong voice‑matching ability and editorial precision

Review and refine press releases drafted by external PR partners to ensure clarity, tone alignment, and narrative coherence

Manage multiple concurrent writing projects with clear ownership, reliable follow‑through, and attention to detail

Operate effectively within structured project management systems (e.g., Asana), meeting deadlines without sacrificing quality

Incorporate feedback quickly and thoughtfully, elevating work through iteration rather than extended conceptual debate

Contribute to editorial calendars and messaging plans in partnership with Marketing and Outreach teams

Wear multiple hats as part of a lean scale‑up team, supporting the work of others on the team and taking on new projects and tasks as needed

We are accepting applications on a rolling basis. The salary range for this position is between $90,000 and $105,000. New hires can expect to be brought into the organization at a salary at or near the start of the range, depending on relevant experience and internal equity. Compensation is based on our salary scales.
