The department employs 220 full-time staff members, 21 graduate assistants and 565 undergraduate student workers. As a self-supporting auxiliary, University Housing operates a $59 million budget derived only from student housing fees and other non‑state sources. Duties/Responsibilities Administrative Support, communicate, enforce and abide by all university and department policies, procedures and regulations. Attend bi‑weekly team meetings, office hours (3 hrs/wk) and monthly one‑on‑one check‑ins with supervisor. Update and maintain content calendars. Function as a resource for accurate information concerning housing and university operations. Participate in training and in‑service activities. Perform other duties consistent with the purpose of the position as assigned. Work minimum 8 hours a week. Social Media Promote the value of living on campus and foster the on‑campus community through storytelling and engaging content. Assist in the planning, creation and scheduling of content on housing social media channels such as: Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and YouTube. Monitor and identify trends, memes and relevant topics to keep content fresh and relatable. Write engaging copy for social media captions, graphics and video content. Collaborate with team members as needed to create branded content for all University Housing platforms. Ensure accuracy and consistency across all posts, including adherence to branding and accessibility guidelines. Regularly check platform analytics and engagement. Attend University Housing events as needed to document on social media. Capture photos of halls and student life with DSLR or phone camera. Manage content timelines by creating and submitting materials in advance to meet approval and scheduled posting deadlines. Percentage Of Time 100 Classification Title Student Assistant FLSA Non‑Exempt FTE 50 Position Summary The digital media assistant supports University Housing’s digital communication efforts by creating and managing engaging content across platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and YouTube. The assistant will help amplify the on‑campus experience by attending events, capturing authentic student life and producing content that aligns with brand voice and strategy. The assistant will also contribute to content planning, stay up to date on social media trends and support campaigns that drive engagement and build community. Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification In Position Demonstrated experience with social media for a brand Strong communication skills and ability to match tone with a defined brand voice Photography, videography or graphic design experience Preference will be given to candidates planning to reside on campus for the upcoming academic year Physical Demands Standard for a normal office environment.
