Anticipated Salary: $85,000-$90,000 annual salary (depending on experience)
Total Compensation including Benefits = $116,450-$123,300 annualized*

Summary
CSUSM Corporation is one of three auxiliaries that supports the educational mission of CSU San Marcos. Established as a not-for-profit corporation under IRS tax code as a section 501(c)3 entity, CSUSM Corporation accomplishes its mission through its various entrepreneurial operations including sponsored programs, human resources and payroll services, and commercial services. Under the general direction of the Executive Director and Associate Vice President of Business Development, the Marketing Manager is responsible for leading and managing the department, preparing and presenting ideas and deliverables on a regular basis, researching market trends and industry data so that the Corporation, and its partners remain on the cutting edge.
The Marketing Manager will coordinate marketing and communications in collaboration with the following departments: Housing and Residential Education, Summer Conferences and Events, CSUSM Dining Services, and other Corporation partners. The Marketing Manager leads initiatives that drive brand awareness, trial, and distribution, including day-to-day execution of marketing campaigns, promotions, and public relations. Will support the development of sales and marketing materials, adapting scopes, timelines, and deliverables for maximum benefit. Will build skill set and engage in ongoing education for the Corporation.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
Minimum
Two (2) or more years of experience in marketing, sales, or advertising
Hands‑on experience in developing campaigns and promotions
Experience working independently, following verbal and written instructions, guidelines, and objectives
Proven success in a fast‑paced environment, working both individually and in a team
Preferred
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, journalism, or related field; in lieu of bachelor’s degree, equivalent combination of education and experience
Demonstrated success in communications, marketing, events, and promotions
Experience in content development and website design
Experience with relevant markets and trends
Established media contacts
Auxiliary Services work experience and/or work experience in an academic setting, ideally Public Higher Education preferred

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Collaborate with team members to execute public relations and marketing campaigns by leading brainstorming sessions for internal and external projects
Lead the development of marketing plans for CSUSM Housing and CSUSM Dining to optimize housing occupancy, meal plan subscriber rates, and summer utilization of facilities and services by summer residents and conference and event clients
Support outreach initiatives designed to recruit new students to the university, including but not limited to, summer/winter new student orientation sessions, the fall Discover CSUSM Day, and spring Cougar Blue Day
Assign staff or personally provide presentations, tours, and staff tables during campus recruiting events; these events require occasional travel as well as evening or weekend work hours
Assist in the development of professional presentations for delivery by the Manager as well as other team members during new student recruiting events as well as orientation sessions
Oversee development of professional marketing materials including brochures, flyers and similar printed materials as well as digital materials for use online
Meet with colleagues to plan and implement marketing campaigns for brand building that align with overall Corporation goals and partner sales targets
Help gather and analyze data to reach insights about brands, competitors, and trends
Contribute to lead‑generation and customer‑acquisition activities, such as sales enablement, media promotion, networking, trade shows, and events
Coordinate public relations and outreach initiatives, including media releases, awards, Corporation announcements, and speaker proposals
Measure and report performance of marketing campaigns, gain insights, and assess against goals for continuous improvement
Serve on CSUSM Corporation and University committees as appropriate
Supervision
This position will supervise one or more staff and/or student assistant(s). Responsible for hiring, training, management, evaluation, and development of all direct reports.
Latitude and Judgment
Will work and make decisions independently with minimal supervision – planning, organizing, coordinating, and executing day‑to‑day tasks, as well as complex, long‑range projects, exercising judgment and discretion to accomplish a broad range of communications functions
Will exercise judgment and latitude over immediate responsibilities, time and resource management, and communicate with various Corporation and University managers and administrative support staff
Poor judgment in performance of duties could result in missed deadlines and a negative impact for the Corporation in terms of employee relations, campus community relations, and/or re‑work
Work Environment
The work environment will include normal office conditions and use of a computer
