Uitgeverij Noordhoek is a media company specialising in B2B publications about the circular economy. It has a professional and independent editorial team with many years' experience of following developments in waste, recycling, and the circular economy. In the coming period, we intend to expand our reporting to an international level. To this end, we would like to get in touch with freelance journalists who can cover one or more European countries as correspondents.
What will you be writing about? Initially, we will focus on current affairs relating to the circular economy in the broadest sense, with an emphasis on:
Waste, recycling and raw materials markets
Policy and regulations (EU and national), permits and enforcement
Business developments (investments, chains, innovations, M&A)
Technology & infrastructure (sorting, recycling, pyrolysis, WtE, textiles, plastics, etc.)
Geographical focus Initially, we mainly look at: Germany, Belgium, France, United Kingdom.
In due course, we will also focus on: Scandinavia, Poland, Italy, Spain and Portugal.
What will you be doing? You will identify relevant news and trends in your country/region (beyond press releases). You will also receive support from our newsroom.
Writing news articles. In time, this may also include commentary, interviews and background articles.
Building and maintaining sources : government/inspections, industry organisations, companies, knowledge institutions, NGOs, etc.
Collaborating with the editors-in-chief (internal coordination in English or Dutch).
Who are we looking to connect with? You are fluent in the language of the country you cover (either native or near-native) and can communicate well in English or Dutch with the editorial team.
You are familiar with reliable sources such as government documents, trade media, registers, industry channels and public data.
You can work quickly and accurately , with an understanding of newsworthiness and context.
You deliver clear, factual copy that is source-accurate, and you work well remotely.
Yes, we actually think more in terms of language areas. So if you have a good command of a particular language, you can write about those language areas or topics in that language.
How you will work You will make occasional or regular contributions.
You will work remotely, but online in teams.
You will work online in a modern newsroom.
You will work together with a professional editorial team.
What you bring Demonstrable experience in journalism forB2B professionals.
Preferably experience with the subject of the circular economy, waste or recycling.
Experience in translating complex dossiers into clear articles for professionals.
